Sounds cool, but am I fucking sick of Vampires. They're right up there with Pirates. I can't stand either and they're being co-opted by poorly written chick lit. EW...

So I take it you don't want to see an adaptation of Vampirates?

Yeah, wrong move with the vampires...

That's a damn shame. A decent doc could have gven some time to covering peripheral, underexposed vampire flicks, like Rabid, Deathdream, Martin, Last Man On Earth, Lifeforce, shit, even Count Yorga...

I do like vampire movies, but I have to admit you have to weed through a lot of shitty films just to find the good ones. No mention of Martin, any of Rollin's films in the documentary? What about the Hammer films? I'd even settle for some of the Nostradamus films, or even a glimpse of any of the 60s Spanish takes (Werewolf vs. Vampire Woman, Dracula's Great Love, etc.).

They cover Hammer films very briefly, mostly just how great a vampire Lee was, and his iconic moment with his bloodshot eyes. And Knowles geeks out about Brides of Dracula because the vampires are hot.

But otherwise no, none of the films you guys mentioned were in the doc. Why would they dig up info on films most people haven't seen? Instead they talk about Van Helsing like it was a revelation in film.

Bah. What happened? Their slasher doc was decent, and their Midnight Movies special was a ncie primer for new kids. (I usually accidentally think they did "Spghetti West", but I think that was IFC.)

I'm thinking it was really hurt by not being based on a book like Going to Pieces. That doc probably benefited by being able to go back to it as a reference. This was just out of nowhere, and doesn't seem like anyone who was a fan of the genre was involved with it. Hence the constant side-tracking.

Besides the movies I mentioned, they talked about Stoker's Dracula, An Interview With a Vampire, Vampires, Innoecent Blood, and of course Nosferatu. I think that's it.

And Bloodrayne. Fucking Bloodrayne.

No Blackula?

No Blackula. Or even Vampire in Brooklyn.

Anyone bother checking it out at all?
Well, I don't have Starz, so no. If they're not even going to touch upon Vampire in Brooklyn, there is no point.

I wish Eddie Murphy's relaxed hair vampire faced off against the goombah cast of Sopranos vampires from Innocent Blood.
