Question for Final Fantasy fans

I really don't know much of anything about this franchise, but I know it has a huge following. One of my friends recorded a song for one of my movies, what I thought was some random traditional accordion piece, but someone noted that it's actually from one of the Final Fantasy games. Does anyone know what specific game, and if the song was released what its name was?

To listen to the recorded version, download it here:

I think it's from FF8, though it's been so many years since I played any FF game I can't be sure.

Edit: What a beautiful piece it is, as with so much Final Fantasy music. Makes me a little sad.

That's Aeris' theme from FFVII. One of the most heartbreaking themes to come out of the series.

Edit: Damn, that's an accordion? That's awesome.

Actually, that's from Final Fantasy VII. It's horrible that I know that, but yeah, it's Aeris' Theme:

Thanks a lot guys. Funny bit of trivia - that accordion version was recorded through a camera just sitting in a living room, but sounds surprisingly good.

Because it allows me to know what life would be like if I gained levels.

Seriously. FF fans exemplify nearly every negative stereotype the gaming world produces.

Man, Final Fantasy fans must shit out their own skeletons on the off chance they hear an actual symphony or opera once in a while.
Actually, we don't have skeletons.

Considering the giant blobs of goo who attend cosplay conventions, I do believe Jon is telling the truth.

Alls I know is that Gametrailers has a retrospective on all the final fantasy games. Man is that some difficult shit to slog thru as opposed to the metroid one.

I was wondering if anyone else was following those. It's amazing how positive they are for every single entry like everything Square has every crapped out has been gold.

Why do you think Cloud's sword is cardboard and foil. Can't lift anything heavier.

I've watched the GT retorspective, the earlier ones were better (not the greatness of my retrospective, but how could they be).

The XI one was just horrible and this past week's was awful.

Though I'll probably be banned by Nick for saying this, I think the same thing about Halo fans.

Truthfully though the only Final Fantasy Games that I really enjoyed were 6 & 7.

You're definitely not the only one.

I love me some Final Fantasy, and I don't 'feel' like I embody some pantheon of awful gamer stereotypes. Not sure where that's coming from.
