Yeah, this has been on the local news for a while. Figured it was only a matter of time until it hit the other news outlets around the globe. It's absolutely disgusting.

I heard a little about this from a co-worker. I miss most news since I sleep during the day...

They should create a magic hole that you can punch, and your fist will always come out the other side, smack into the face of whomever on planet earth deserves a smashed face most. If I had that machine, someone in Las Vegas would be getting fucked up as we speak.

It's a shame that monster's face isn't clearer on the tape. It would give them a better chance to figure out who he is and what happened to the girl.

Whoever this guy is, he has to be seeing all this coverage. I worry what he might be panicked into doing.

You implied that the only reason people are interested in this story is that they either enjoy reading about the depravity of their fellow man or they get off on condemning and slinging death threats toward the suspect.

Nowhere in your narrow-minded viewpoint did it occur to you that people may feel actual disgust at the story and genuine concern for the little girl in question. This concern propels us to track the ongoing situation to find out if there are any leads to the girls whereabouts. Because, uh, some of us are capable of feeling empathy for this poor girl (outside of just morbid curiosity) and hope beyond hope that she is safely recovered. Thankfully, she was.

I don't know why anyone cares about this because it's not news. It's not a news story, period. It's an opportunity for people to prove that they 'care', when in reality this happens every single day to some other little girl or little boy and not one person who is 'outraged' in this thread or any other forum on the internet or water cooler in any office does anything about it. How many of you are volunteering at rape crisis centers, working with abused children, getting involved with counseling for survivors of abuse and incest? I'll bet NONE.

This is 'If it bleeds it leads' taken to the extreme - I could almost see the newsworthiness of this story in the local community, but who the fuck cares in Los Angeles or Denver or Stockholm? It's a purely prurient news story, one that in no way has an impact on you or your life or the well-being of anyone you know, that doesn't effect global politics or the fate of nations. And the prurience in this kind of story is, I think, the worst kind, the kind where you get to sit back and hate someone else and feel better about yourself. Why? I don't know - maybe because you properly despise this guy, or you feel worse for this girl than the woman in the next cubicle does. as for your comments, I have worked with victims of these type of crimes, during my highschool years, and during my journalism studies, I happened to work and meet up with the local Crime Investigation Bureau on the black market of child pornography in my country.
Stories like this help raise awareness and find victims of this horrible trade, you pompus ass...for every 10000000 bland middle american who reads that story for kicks, there can be someone with real information that could spare an innocent child suffering or even save a life.
While im not going to debate the reasons for interest these kind of news generate in the average reader, they do help to combat these type of crimes and rasise public awareness on the subject, unlike just being an asshole and throw the story away because you've come to terms with yourself and your view of the world.
