"Based on a pitch by Goodman"

Was "Let's remake The Brood" the extent of the pitch? Do you even have to pitch remakes these days? I thought execs were just google searching and scanning imdb for possibilities.

The original of this is perhaps dated enough to where a retelling could have some merit. It's a great bizarre concept but I thought the make-up effects weren't of the greatest caliber even by 1979 standards, and Samantha Eggar really didn't do much for me in the lead.

Despite these valid points, I still find it pretty dang creepy and atmospheric.

They'll never get anyone to replace the creepy intensity of Oliver Reed.

I dunno. It's certainly not a "known" commodity, so it doesn't sound entirely mercenary like, say, the Halloween remake. Having said that, I hope they don't try to Hostel it up and focus mostly on the mutant kids mutilating schoolteachers.

They can never replace what I think is the best aspect of the original, the sets, locations and clothing.
It's one of the premier visions of the dark brown A-frame turtleneck burgundy shag late 70's around.

I'm a Cronenberg fanatic but, if they were going to pick any of his films to remake, I'm glad it's this one. Other than the creepy womb finale and Reed's drunkeness, this film does nothing for me. The midget's and their little dog noises are about as scary as killer dachshunds.

This man makes sense. Goddamn remake probably won't even be in Canada.

Don't Underestimate the dachshund! They're going to help save the world when the zombies come, according to "World War Z" author max Brooks.

I own a dachshund and have read the book. It's hard for me to picture my little buddy, Booker, taking down zombies with his nine and a half pound frame. Granted, he'd be a gladiator in a world comprised solely of Cabbage Patch kids and four year olds.

Reamking a Cronenburg film is an impressively pointless idea.
Ah, well.
That said, a Shivers remake might be kind of amusing, of only tyo see how they tried to sell it to audiences.
