Freddy Vs. Jason was about as fun as death.

Continuity has never been a concern for Ft13 writers, but even so that water phobia thing was pretty ridiculous.

The theater experience for Freddy Vs. Jason was the best part of the film. Hell of a lot of fun to see it with a good crowd.

I still want to punch John Ritter's son in the face in every scene, though. He's got one acting look- goofy grin. Tender moment with your girlfriend? Goofy grin. Getting chased by Jason? Goofy grin.

There was one great slow motion shot where you see it in all its glory. It's pretty hysterical.

"Freddy died by fire, Jason by water. How can we use that?"

Ridiculousness of Jason's newfound hydrophobia aside, I thought Freddy vs. Jason was a blast. It certainly far exceeded my (admittedly low) expectations. Bad actors? Welcome to the franchises. Stupidity on an epic level? Again, welcome to the franchises. I'd be interested to hear what makes this particular outing so egregious. For my part, I was annoyed by the over-reliance on CGI, but that's about it.

"Jason died by machete. How can we use that? Someone call Corey Feldman!"

Well, if you think about it, Jason has met his "end" a few times where there's water involved. Pt 1, Pt 6, Pt 7, Pt 8. And he did drown as a kid, so I guess I can make that "suspension of disbelief" leap. But that didn't make the movie any better. Actually, I think the final battle of Freddy and Jason was a little anti-climactic.

Of course, I'm also terribly fond of Jason Goes to Hell, so what the fuck do I know.

It would be hilarious if Jason had a phobia of sharp objects. He should start killing people using forest creatures. "AHHH! He shoved a chipmunk in my EYE!"

The final battle of Freddy and Jason was so boring. I thought with all of the action in the movie the director could at least come up with a better scene.

I'm kinda holding out for the "exclusively kills using sleeping bags" entry in the franchise.

I actually think this is a movie that can remade by anyone. Unlike Halloween, where the biggest complaint was that Zombie didn't "get" what made Michael scary (and he didn't), there really is no character of Jason to "get". Horny campers killed my mom = I hate horny campers. Period. As long as the writers get this aspect of the films then they'll be fine.

That and if they give me buckets of blood to go along with it. Plus, as Patrick mentioned, one death by sleeping bag. And mix it up, fuckers. Don't just smash a bitch against a tree again. I'll go for a hammer toss through a wall.

for the record, I think Jason Goes to Hell is actually one of the better films in the series. it's fucking violent.

And retarded and dull and it has production values that shame the series.

Production values that shame the Friday the 13th franchise. That's a mind-bender right there.

In this franchise, I ONLY own the DVDs of Jason X and Freddy VS Jason (as guilty pleasures), so they can pretty much do anything they want for this. It won't break my heart. Hell, maybe it'll be better than the first 9 and I'll own 3 in a row.

well with the way everybody cried over Halloween I'm a little surprised that people don't want to demand more from this remake. There is a lot of potential to do something really cool with the character. I think that Jason is overdue for a reboot just as Michael Myers was. I don't understand why everybody has such a huge problem with Jason and the Friday the 13th series all of a sudden. You want to bring up production value on one film and talk about it like "That's where they REALLY fucked up" when really Jason 9 was one of the best as far as "guilty pleasures" go. I think 4, 6, 7, 9, and 10 were all better sequels than anything they did in the Halloween series and yet people acted like Rob Zombie was fuckin with the bible. Ok, sure the original Halloween has more truth than the bible but Rob Zombie's Halloween was good. I'm all over the place? You're all over the place! I'm not making any sense! the point is, i like number 9 and your comment about its production values hurt my feelings!

As long as it's more like the Paramount Friday's and less like the New Line films, I'm good with it.

But since its at New Line and the writers of Freddy v Jason are doing it, I doubt that will happen.

Here I am defending Freddy vs. Jason when the real issue is how anyone can enjoy Jason Goes to Hell. While I appreciate the effort in taking the franchise in another direction (not unlike New Nightmare), I think it utterly fails in the execution. Who wants to watch a Friday movie without Jason? And replacing him with a killer Yuppie? Guh?

Although it did have Colonel Wilma Deering in it... which was nice.

Kevin- the problem is that Halloween is a classic film, while Friday the 13th was standard, run of the mill shit that didn't even get good until the next couple of films. Even then, it was pure guilty pleasure.

There's really not too much they can do with the story. Dead kid seeks revenge. He's not evil incarnate, he's not a disturbed individual, he's just a mute supernatural killer.

Don't forget he's got some retardation going on too.

Why is everyone talking about Jason? Or are they nixing the whole mom-as-killer aspect of the original?

...Actually, that wouldn't surprise me at all.
