I'm completely up for any AMC Oscar runs in Houston. Get together, check out the flicks, grab a few beers afterward.

AMC Marathon

Theaters to be named shortly, tickets on sale 30-Jan-09. I vote Reader as our break film. Hopefully it's the 3rd movie.

I second the Reader as the break movie. What say we make that Chuy's visit a tradition?

Sadly, work will probably keep me from joining you guys this year. I'm already taking the weekend before off to go to a Citizen Cope concert, I don't think I can afford to lose another weekend.
Here's hoping we get a nice crowd together for this, because the line-up isn't nearly as interesting as last year. I've seen 2 of the 3 movies on the list I want to see, so I'll be coming for the company.

I'm finally moving down, people. What better way to celebrate than some bitchin' Alamo Quote Alongs?

I'm going to the local air show on Saturday, but if anybody wants to attend the Evil Dead II Quote Along at the Ritz, I won't think twice about running down to Austin as soon as the planes stop flying.*

Then again, there's an Airplane Quote Along next week. It's a Thursday.

*Also, there's a showing on Friday which would make it even easier.

ETA - And just to throw this one up there WAY in advance, Master Pancake is doing The Sixth Sense in June.

ETA Jr - Terror Tuesday is doing Maximum Overdrive in June.

Who's laughing now?!?!?!

Shit man, I wish I could come, but I promised myself a weekend off. Been burning the candle at both ends for about two solid months.

By the by, EDII was fucking brilliant. They handed out red streamers to toss around the theatre during the blood-gushing-from-wall scene.

Movies like the Evil Dead franchise require audience participation -- there's something wrong with sitting there politely and quietly while Bruce Campbell cackles maniacally along with a taxidermy reject and a lamp.

I promised Jared I would come to Austin in the next few weeks, so if there's any particularly awesome stuff going on at the Alamo let me know.
Ahem... Drafthouse fans...

You're gonna want this.

Yes, yes we are.

Just a heads up, ladies and gentlemen...but, starting tomorrow, the Ghostbusters Quote Along at the Ritz kicks off.

7 PM for all you Austin area Chewers.

I saw yesterday that the is an Alamo Drafthouse mod for Left 4 Dead. Pretty damn cool.

I'm going to this Wednesday for Wild Things. Really looking forward to it.
Any and all Austin Chewers need to make sure they come to the Ghostbuster Quote-Along. You're gonna wanna see me in my natural environment.

Next Weird Wednesday isTHE VELVET VAMPIRE by none other than exploitation legend, Stephanie Rothman. I had a blast when Lars and the gang put on STUDENT NURSES a few months back and I fully expect this to kick even more ass.

All Austin area Chewers -- let's make this more than a me and Greg thing!

If you didn't get into BNAT, Broken Lizard's bringing their film THE SLAMMIN' SALMON to the South Lamar Drafthouse on December 12th. That will be THE movie theater on the planet that day.

Night Nurse! I saw this at the New Beverly back in 2006. It was not presented by Kim Morgan, so you assholes win.

Yeah, that looks to be a good night out. But how much do we really win? How much are we really lucky assholes?

Look what's playing at Weird Wednesday on the 19th of May. Admission is only one goddamn dollar!
Hell yes. Greg, will I see you there?

I won't put a number on it.

Any of you good folk going to see THE A-TEAM at the Ritz this Friday night? I might be able to make the 11pm show.

I'll be on a little road trip.

So, Houston Chewers, Tim League is apparently personally involved in negotiations to open a Drafthouse at the old Alabama movie theater on S Shepherd. It's a classic theater, beautiful, I saw EMPIRE STRIKES BACK there in 1980 before it got turned into a Bookstop.

If this happens I'll have Tim's baby.

This year's slate of Rolling Roadshows is pretty damn cool.

Anyone get into Cinemapocalypse? I'm coming into Austin next Friday night.
Sadly missed out on Cinemapocolypse, but if you're gonna be in town through the weekend, Nordling, you should come to the GHOSTBUSTERS outdoor festival Sunday evening!

I gotta bolt after a couple of hours' sleep because we're a one-car family and the wife will need the car Saturday afternoon. I wanted to see JAWS and THE SHARK IS STILL WORKING but I won't be able to.

TEXANS! I am coming to see you.  There's a pretty good sale on at Airtran right now, and it was enough to convince me that I NEEDED to be there for the first three Rolling Roadshows.

Can I count on any of you good folks to show up at any of those?  (THE SEARCHERS, TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, and BLOOD SIMPLE)

I'd enjoy meeting some of you.

I'd love to be at The Seacrhers, but work responsibilities conflict.  Hope you have a great time, though!

Any chewers doing Camp Alamo?  I already bought my ticket, and probably camping overnight.
