Same here. Or perhaps a meet up at ye old Hell Gate. It's New York, there are a thousand things to do.

Maybe a CHUD TRON meet up? I can't think of anything else that would lend itself to a large crowd. Well, maybe True Grit, so we don't have to deal with the masses...

Anyone going to the NYC Horror Fest? http://www.chud.com/articles/article...EST/Page1.html

I will likely be there every day but saturday if anyone wants to meet up.

As of 30 minutes ago, there's a guy on the corner of 13th and B'way (in front of the Union Sq. Regal Cinema) handing out free passes for a screening of Paul on Monday, January 24!!

Definitely considering that. The problem is finding someone else who wants to check it out, I'm finding.

If anyone's interested in meeting up before a screening of The Big Combo or Oliver Twist at Moving Image this weekend, let me know- be at both.

Understandable, (especially considering the price) but the bigger the group you go with the more fun it will be.  I can't vouch for it enough.  I saw it three times in Boston, the last time was an added show they did as a benefit for Haiti. Tickets were $100 andI bought three of them.  I think you'd really dig it.

This is why Brooklyn is awesome.

The Bluth Banana Stand is reason enough to make it out to these TV Parties for three nights, each one showcasing the best of each of the show's three seasons. In addition to frozen chocolate-covered bananas, come for some live AD-themed fun, like the Nevernudes (an Arrested Development band), live magic tricks gone wrong in honor of our favorite wacky illusionist Gob, a chicken-dance dance-off and DJs spinning AD-related tracks. You can also test your knowledge in the AD trivia competition for free drinks and prizes.

Bumping to let y'all know that I'm going to be in NYC on the weekend of the 11th, and going to the show on the 12th with some friends.  If you go, I"ll even by you a drink at the bar.  Yes, there's a bar.

And since somebody asked, no, I'm not affiliated with the show, just a big fan.  Shit is selling out fast too, so get on it, yo!

In the Golden Age of Japanese Cinema, even as male stars like Toshiro Mifune flourished, its greatest strength was in an astonishing array of female icons, great actresses as well as superstars: in a career that spanned over 40 years, Kinuyo Tanaka (1909-1977) suffered for Mizoguchi 15 times, gun-molled for Ozu early and got laughs for him late, eventually becoming everyone’s favorite aunt; Isuzu Yamada (born 1917) vaulted to stardom in her teens before playing a series of powerful, dominant parts, topped by her legendary “Lady Macbeth”; former dancer Machiko Kyo (born 1924) became internationally famous in Rashomon, then was glorified in LIFE, co-starred with Brando, and grew in screen sexiness into her 50s; Setsuko Hara (born 1920), the beloved “Virgin Star,” personified Miss Japan as the perfect daughter, sister, daughter-in-law, even mother for Ozu, while displaying Dostoyevskian range for Kurosawa; while Hideko Takamine (1924-2010), who died this past December, graduated from being Japan’s Shirley Temple into the tightly wound, unconquered Naruse heroine, even attaining the ultimate: a full-blown New Yorker profile.

Hey folks. I'll be in NYC this weekend for work. Anything interesting happening Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights? Any websites I should check to find out what's interesting?

Jacob, Time Out New York...The Magazine, is an...Essential Guide to NYC!  Citysearch.com/NY, is also good at listing hotels, restaurants events etc!  NYC, almost always has interesting things to do!  The real question is what do...You, find interesting?

Fleed's got the right idea. Other sites to check out: Village Voice, The L Magazine.

Check out the Highline. Its free and its beautiful - an elevated train track transformed into a park/stroll-way for NYers.

You guys are awesome. Thanks for the links. I'm driving out tonight from Toronto, which is one of my least favourite drives (last time we got a flat in the middle of the night and got hit by a crossing animal) but I'm looking forward to being back in your city!
