GRIS GRIMLY’S “BOP PILLS” EXHIBITION AND SALE
AT VAN EATON GALLERIES IS JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED
A Rockin’ evening not to be missed on Saturday, October 13, 2007 in Sherman Oaks, California.
Van Eaton Galleries is thrilled to present a very special evening featuring another healthy dose of amazing new original artwork from Fine Artist, Illustrator and Film Maker Gris Grimly. This solo exhibition will feature over 25 new original paintings and sketches centered on a theme of Music, Monsters and Medicine. Here is what Gris had to say about “BOP PILLS”...
“The title “BOP PILLS” was named after the song by legendary punk band The Cramps. The show is inspired by their music in combination with my frustrated experiences with the medical field, over-priced services, and pills, pills, pills! It just seems to me that things are not getting any better, so it doesn’t take brain surgery to understand why my first solo exhibition was themed around those ideas”.
Gris will also be present signing his highly anticipated 2007 illustrated release “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”. We invite you to come take a conscious look at Gris Grimly’s “illustrative world, expressed in 1960s institutional white and mint green”.
Gris Grimly’s “Bop Pills” exhibition will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2007 from 7:00-11:00pm at Van Eaton Galleries, 13613 Ventura Blvd. Sherman Oaks, CA 91423. Admission is free. RSVP’s are now being taken. Anyone interested in attending should call (818) 788-2357.
GRIS GRIMLY can be best described as a storyteller. His distinctive style and wide selection of mediums have captivated a variety of loyal fine art collectors. Originally recognized for his dark yet humorous illustrations for young readers, Mr. Grimly’s interpretive visions have now captured attention and recognition for his full resume of work. Gris Grimly’s intricate lines and startling layouts combined with an exceptional use of carefully controlled water and ink washes brought him to the attention of high-profile publishers such as Hyperion Press, Harper Collin, Simon & Schuster, and Scholastic. His talents can now be appreciated in twelve books including his most recent and highly anticipated summer 2007 illustrated release, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. In addition, Gris has also completed work on two books that are set for release in 2008, one of which is a depictive alphabetic collaboration with writer Neil Gaiman.
VAN EATON GALLERIES has over 2400 square feet of exhibition and retail space in Southern California devoted entirely to Animation and related Fine Art. Their web site at www.vegalleries.com represents the single largest on-line selection of works from the earliest days of animation right up to the present day. The gallery itself is located in the heart of the animation and entertainment industry and is a central meeting place for a vibrant community of animation professionals and collectors.
