I'm glad they finally made a Meet the Medic short. That thing is hilarious!

I had been thinking of buying TF2 when it was still $10, but I guess now I don't have to. I liked TF2 on the 360 well enough, so trying out the PC version for free seems like a no brainer. If we can get enough people involved, it would be fun to play a bunch of TF2 with Chud people.

I'd sure be willing to try, but I suck at multiplayer, and I'm afraid I'd just be a drain on the group. I'm usually great in support roles, though, so maybe I should practice a bit.

It really wouldn't be a drain unless by happenstance we ended up against an unexpectedly coordinated pub group.  The public groups by and large are complete chaos, and much larger player counts (much to Spike's dismay I'm sure) are easier to find because they're widely preferred (but really add to the chaos).

Start off as a Heavy or a Pyro..those are fun to cut your teeth with.  Yes, being a spy is fun but there is one hell of a learning curve to play one right and not die like a billon times.

The first few "Meet the" videos were more like promos for the games, now they seem to be more like character stories.  I love what ValvE is doing here and I can't wait to see what they keep doing.

Yes the game is free, but if you start a free account, you have to buy something in the Mann Co. store in order to trade with other members, but it'll only set you back like $5.

I feel that FPS newbies should have better luck starting as medics. Just attach yourself to a heavy and try to see what's going on in the match. Where the frontlines are, usual ambush spots, sniping perches etc. And at least back when I was playing nothing could break a goldrush stalemate as efficiently as a well timed uber.

That's pretty much what I did when I started playing the 360 version of TF2 way back. I'm thinking doing the same thing with the PC version would be a good idea seeing as how the PC version has a bunch of new/different stuff I'm not used to yet.

Anyway, I got TF2 downloaded yesterday, and I've played a few of the training missions to get myself situated a bit. Perhaps I'll try playing against actual humans once I configure the controls to my liking.

Picking medic is a great way to start. Learning how to support will make you a much better teammate.  Plus, it'l make your teammates happy.

Just figure out how to be a strategic Medic early, for God's sake. In its own way, playing Medic needs to involve more stealth than the Spy.

So I've been playing Half Life 2 today and I think I'm ready for TF2. On the 360 I used to practially dominate as a Soldier, but I think because of my aiming handicap I'm going to go Medic or Engineer on PC.
