Boondocks Season 2

I had no idea they were ready to role out a new season. No hype for it at all. Grandpa sneaks the kids in to see Soul Plane 2 sence he is trying to bring down the corrupt and evil theater system

"...or die trying."

We were going to crash but I thought we should watch a half hour show off of the DVR beforehand. Right at the top of the list was The Boondocks. I was thinking, "I only have this set to record when a new episode is on." I thought my DVR fucked up. It was like a surprise Christmas. This is tied with the "Beverages" episode as my favorite so far. The 50 Cent stuff was fantastic. That's how you do a running gag. It was funny how they just recreated the multiplex at The Grove down to the tiniest detail. That's a 2 percenter if I've ever seen one.

I'm consistently impressed with how dynamic and kinetic the actions scenes are in this show. Do they even need to be this well done? There's nothing lazy about it. I could watch a straight action version of this show, as odd as that sounds.

That's one of the reasons I love this show. I was blown away by the fight scenes between Huey and Riley and Huey and Bushido Brown in the Oprah episode from the first season.

It's pretty unusual -- for me at least -- to notice how well an action scene is done in a cartoon.

The Boondocks has the single best fight scenes on TV. Which is sort of weird when you think about it.

And "Air Marshall 50-Cent" was hilarious.

Great to have this show back on.

I was also really suprised that the show was back on. It didn't get a lot of hype from what I saw.

Some of last seasons episodes weren't that funny to me but last night's was hilarious. Especially Ruckus with the nunchucks.

I too was suprised to see this on my DVR. The episode was great, especially because I could see Soul Plane 2 having that same plot.

Anyone else think it was bizarre that the show secured the actual vocal stylings of Soul Plane actors like Mo'Nique and Snoop Dogg? So are these guys just whores for whatever acting gig comes along and they knew all along that Soul Plane was degrading and terrible or do they not even understand the fact that this episode is mocking their movie?

Well, the new episode about Usher and A Pimp Named Slickback is on par with the premiere.

Oh, like Snoop Dogg knows where he is half the time.

This episode rubbed me the wrong way. I really liked the premiere, but the music video part just annoyed me, I stopped watching and finished the episode later.

The music video part came CLOSE to annoying me, but I loved how they threw the "Car!" bit in there. I also really loved the delivery of "I paid you two thousand dollars and...and five hundred dollars as well!" So obscure, but a very realistic bungling of words.

I believe Snoop Dogg has said Soul Plane was a piece of shit, as well as many of the other actors.

I caught up with episode 2 today and as vulgar as this show gets, it continues to put a smile on my face.

Much of the main Boondocks cast appeared in Soul Plane, hence their glee in tearing that rancid piece of shit apart in the season 2 opener; a classic just because of the "You Wouldn't Steal A Movie" sequence alone, let alone everything else in it that's nearly as funny.

"The Hunger Strike", the first of the two "banned" anti-BET episodes that won't be airing in the US, ran last night on Teletoon up in Canada. It's on the Internet in the usual places one finds these things.

Long story short, like some others this season it's an uneven episode; a musical number is drawn out far too long and feels like padding but there are flashes of brilliance throughout. BET gets torn a new asshole as executives at the channel, whose stated goal is "the destruction of Black people", get called out practically by name. Real-life BET CEO and chairwoman Deborah Lee becomes Deborah Lee-vil and murders a man in cold blood before the opening credit roll; BOONDOCKS executive producer (credited as such only as a technicality)/current BET President of Entertainment Reggie Hudlin becomes "faggot-ass faggot" Wedgie Rudlin.

I have no idea how this libelous (but funny) stuff ever made it past Sony's lawyers into production in the first place. Hollywood studios are famously cautious when it comes to this sort of thing.

"If you ask me what I think about BET, I'll tell you with no shame: BET sucks! And I say that because when I sit and watch BET... my dignity is sucked away! And, my pride is sucked away! And, the progress we've made in the freedom struggle over the last five decades... is sucked away!"

The episode leads right into next week's as (highlight for semi-spoilers) BET gives Uncle Ruckus his own reality show. Which ought to be entertaining.

Intro Clip out now for next week.

"I have a question."
"Of course you do - you didn't go to Harvard."

Hey, so Werner Herzog is on the season 3 premiere.
Herzog is fucking killing me in this episode thus far.

That fucking Dickriding for Obama video... and Thugnificent on Real Time were pretty damn great. I see that Bill Maher was listed in the credits too. Ruckus was ridiculous as always.

Awesome episode, glad this show is back. I need to buy the dvd's for the previous season, I haven't revisited a lot of the episodes since they first aired.
