I'm not squeezing his head off in that last one, as much as it looks like it. It's hard to get a good shot cause they're always scampering around, but my photographer friend came over last night and took some great ones, just waiting on him to send them over.

Oh and by the way, the Space Mutiny names are getting serious consideration.

They're so cute! I can't wait to see the really good pictures.

As a fan of Gaiman's Sandman, I found choosing pet names from the Endless work pretty well.

My cats are named Dream and Delirium.

Tempted to name middle daughter Death, but never out loud.

Actually all of these are good

Everyone's getting on my case about not having given them names yet, but I can't decide, so hit that poll up there. Lot of good choices in this thread, too many, but these are the 3 pairs I can most see myself actually calling them.

Thanks, fellas.
You know, I was advocating for Sacco and Vanzetti, but I wound up voting for Buck Plankchest and Big McLargehuge, because they're just hilarious. And I see from the poll that they're the hands-down favorite. When will you make the decision?
Hell yah, one of the names I said is in the poll. I feel vindicated! Go Big McLargeHuge!

Actually, Timothy225 said it first. And you quoted it wrong!

Lisa- no idea. It's pretty neck and neck right now, though.

Vote, dammit!

Doh! That's what happens when I don't drink my coffee in the morning. Oh wells...

Sorry, man. Maybe I'll get some naked mole rats or something and do this all over again...
The little teeny toes are killing me. KILLING ME.
It's the little noses and beady eyes that are doing it for me. Too cute.
I vote for Sacco and Vanzetti! If you met them, you'd clearly see the other names don't particularly suit them. Clearly.
In college a girl in my house had a rat named Pickles. Not only did Pickles come when called, but he'd sit on the couch and watch TV with you. They're smart.
I'll vote for Sacco and Vanzetti, but even though you've narrowed it down I still think Stinky and Wrinkles is perfect.

In high school, one of my friends rescued two lab rats who were about to have lab experiments performed on them... permanently, you might say. So she swiped two of the males and named them Indy and Rod. Rod, because this was 1982, and Rod Stewart was still reasonably cool ("Young Hearts" was his hit song at this time) and she liked him, and Indy after Indiana Jones. They were so much fun. Plus, hilariously enough, Rod Rat had the most enormous balls we'd ever seen on a male mammal. As he'd run across the floor and they'd drag behind him on the carpet, we'd just watch him and go, "Ow ow ow ow, Rod, ow ow..."

Their balls are ENORMOUS. Put mine to shame.
Lisa's story reminded me of the class rat we had in my Psych Honors class back in college. We named him "B.F." after B.F. Skinner, the noted psychologist. He was average rat size, but his fur was yellow. Seems the other rats in the labs took delight in pissing on him in their cages, so his fur got stained yellow. We took pity on him and kept him in our classroom as a pet.

Yeah, Indy's were big, but Rod Rat's were freakish.

Rats, goats... all species have different proportions. Humans do much better in that regard than the average gorilla, for example.
I see that Sacco and Vanzetti have significantly pulled out into the lead.
Drat! Looks like a real rat race! (ooooohhhh - sorry!)

Well, kudos where kudos is due - nice choices, Surge! Cluny and Gabool are good, too - I need to wiki Redwall to get the reference.

Good luck, everyone!
How have more people not voted in this?

I voted for sacco and vanzetti yesterday, and I can't believe this is what passes for suspenseful entertainment at work.

I'd prefer if Adrienne Barbeau got me for that, several times in fact, but...

Looks like Sacco and Vanzetti it is. Awesome. My friends were pulling for those, actually, but I'm wasn't sure how I liked the idea of more fucking guineas around this place. It definitely works, though. Now, to figure out which is which...

Surge wins! Thanks everyone, this thread cracked me up.
My most heartfelt congratulations, Surge! Good show, sir!
WHOOOT!! I'm still claiming to be part of this because Sacco and Vanzetti were my original choices before I changed my mind, heh. Nice choices, Alex. Now you have to get one of those frilly, cutesy light blue baby banners with baby bottles, teddy bears and ABC blocks all over it that says, "WELCOME TO THE WORLD, SACCO AND VANZETTI".

There really is something heartwarming in naming cute little pets after railroaded to execution anarchist terrorists.

So, these little bastards are around 6 weeks old and already going through puberty. They're going friggin' nuts, squeaking and running around the place. Their balls are about twice the already-massive size they were, and red. They're fighting all the time now and still haven't worked out which is the Alpha male. Although I think Sacco's going to win, he's a fiendish little guy.

But yeah, they apparently go through this for a couple more weeks. I almost felt like calling up my mom and saying I'm sorry for my teenage years.
Yeah, probably many parents wish that their teenagers were pains in the asses for a couple of weeks instead of several years.

Edit to add: By the way, Alex, thanks for the new sig line. That's too good to pass up.

Poor Sacco gave up the ghost today, after being sick as hell for a few days. Old man lived two years longer than his brother. Great little pets, even if they did end up looking like shrunken old man scrotums when they got older.

Proud to say that I went with SV; it's gratifying to see it ahead in the polls by a considerable margin

EDIT Just read to the last page of the tread... Sorry to learn of this sad news. I am fond of the idea of pet rats (though I never have owned one) and from what I have seen in the thread, yours were very cool

You have my condolences.
Aww, sorry to hear that Alex. It always sucks when a pet isn't with us anymore.

Looking like a shrunken old man scrotum qualifies him as a Jedi Master.

Vale Master Sacco.

Kate, read threads, THEN post. Read threads, THEN post. Read threads, THEN post.

Alex, sorry to hear of your loss sir, I've heard rats can be nice companions. Are you planning on getting any others?
