What offended me was the WTC missing in the skyline towards the beginning of movie. People 'boo'ed. It was more creepy for me not to see the towers in the beginning and then seeing them later in the film. That didn't make much sense.
Overall, I enjoyed this film. It
was by the number. But so what, if it's done well. I usually dislike Douglas, but I think he pulled off the character. Conrad is good at what he does and knows it, but Douglas didn't make him seem arrogant. It helped us to understand some of the choices he makes to save his daughter.
Murphy is supurb as always. I've loved her since I first saw her in
Clueless and every movie I've seen her in after, whether it be another teen comedy like
Drop Dead Gorgeous or in a drama like
Girl, Interrupted, she always made me care about her characters. I do feel like Elizabeth gave in to Conrad too quickly in this movie, but I guess it was to show that he was that good of a shrink.
The side plot with Saks and his girlfriend was pointless and just dragged the movie on. And the lady cop made me feel like they chopped a lot of her scenes. They spent a fair amount of time setting her up, only to not use her until the end when they needed to wrap things up quickly.
