Female Rappers

I think that we could all most likely count the most influential female rappers on our fingers. There doesn't seem to be much of a female presence in the rap game lately. However, check out this young Latina rap artist named Cecy B. Yo, she's got one hell of a voice and is actually has a serious amount of wit to her lyrics. It's mostly feel-good party music but she can spit. Look her up on iTunes or Myspace.

If she's not Jean Grae, I don't care.

I like that song "Here Comes the Hotstepper." Now I know what you're thinking. "A dude sang that song!" So what? It's a great toe-tapper and the gender of the person who gave it life shouldn't matter. "Act like you know, Rico..."

I'd say the best female M.C.s of all time are Lauryn Hill, Missy, and Rah Digga.

Whatever happened to the Lady of Rage? I know it's hard to top her 40 second tour-de-force on G Funk Intro, but throw us a bone here!

I guess she didn't rock rough enough with her afro puffs...

Debbie Harry is still the best ever, imo.

Lil Kim's verse on Mobb Deep's "Quiet Storm (remix)" is awesome. The rest of her stuff is hit and miss.

I like Lady Sovereign, so my opinion can't be trusted.

Heresy. No one, but no one, has ever rocked as rough with his or her afro puffs.

Bastard.

Yo Gray, if you dig those femcees, then I'm pretty sure you dig Cecy B's stuff. Her album is a range of fun & sexy party music with a garnishing of inspirational tracks.

I'd have to say Lauren is my all time favorite femcee!
