Why? Why do you do this? I'm guilty of it myself, of course, but when five people have already done it, why must you be that sixth person?

I try not to do it anymore, but when I have done it in the past, I'm usually the first to respond. It's a waste, but I'm generally civil to other posters, so it gives me a chance to be an asshole.

The shills used to be more fun. Now it's like they aren't really even trying. Long gone are the days when two shill accounts would post after each other in an attempt to confuse us. Those were more fun to respond to.

I think this complaint could also be read as "Why are some of you so intent in beating a single joke into the ground" but maybe that's just the subtext. Or maybe I'm just uncouth. Or blunt (not Blunt blunt, mind you).

That's probably why I notice it more now. The shills just really suck lately. I mean, some of the ones in the past were pretty devious and crazy, like vipers that want to sell you iPods and porno. But now it's like people are swinging at a slow pitch that nobody threw.

I've been wondering this same thing, especially with the way people respond to duke fleed and swedish miyagi. Stop complaining about them and ignore the fuckers. It's very easy. You don't even have to add them to your ignore list, just don't read their posts. That's what I do.

I can't remember what their name was, but there's one shill around here who's pretty stealthy. They have at least 20 posts, and one time I checked their history after getting curious, and noticed they were making different posts on different movies, but after investigating, all the movies they talk about were from the same distributor. I could swear they had the obligatory number in their name.

Honestly I think people do it to hone up on snark. There are some experts at snarkery on this board, and before most people go toe to toe with champs, they wanna work the speed bag a little. Shills tend not to respond back, and when they do, they often make it even easier to go Internet Tough Guy on them.

I think I used to do it when I first got here. I would get slammed on something by Devin, or whoever, so I'd go call buymoredickpills69 a cunt.

I can see Chris' point. I haven't had a day off in a month, and the other day I was particularly tired and cranky. So I kept repeatedly pulling some shill's pants down in another thread. It gets it out of your system till you can catch a nap, you know?
