Why does he need the gun and the shield? That costume will blind any bad guys that get near him.
Huh... huh huh... huh huh huh.
Don't like that design at all. Sure, the black lower half breaks the upper design into the shape of his original shield, but that doesn't make up for the fact that it's ugly. Looks more like U.S. Agent now.

And the shiny.. stuff? Why?? Did Cap have to fight his way through a saran-wrap factory or what? Scalemail was way classier. The best Cap designs are still the Ultimate and WW2 Ultimate ones, IMO

Two patriotic thumbs down.
Didn't Cap have a thing with not using guns? He's so dark and mature now!
So, Marvel decided they wanted to make Cap more like DC's Commander Steel, eh? Nice one (yeesh!). Oh, and the "dark times for America, bleak outlook, moody emo" motif isn't too cliche at this point, right? C'mon, Alex! I expected better!

Cap... Gun...
Capgun!

That's a JOKE, SON!!! Ya missed it!!! I keeps pitchin' em, and you keep missin 'em!! Ya gotta keep your EYE on th' BALL, son!!!

EYE? BALL?

EYEBALL!!!

(aaannndddd, joke officially run into the ground. No, no. No need to thank me.)

It looks like they were going to do an Iron Captain America and ran out of funding half way through.

Why do you hate Capt. America?

I hate the commie asshole who dropped him into a vat of CHROMIUM.

Boner.
Now that I have clicked the link and actually seen the whole get-up I think Blackwater ought to adapt this.
And the black makes no sense if it's there for stealth, because the bright shiny red white and blue totally negates it.
Cap is tired of never getting his No-Prize and he's gonna show Stan Lee just who is the fuckin' boss around here.
I was checking the Marvel website forums - and somebody there nailed it. This ain't gonna be around too long: it's the Ben Reilly version of Cap. Sooner or later the original Cap and his gear will be back, just like when they did this dance back in the '80s (The Captain, US Agent).

Eight million copies of Ninjak #1 gave their lives so that Captain America may shine.

Why does Daredevil have big sawblades on his legs?
The New Captain America is the Arazel version of Batman. Why does Captain America need a gun? He is not either The Punisher, Blade, Deadpool ETC. Even though this is a new Captain America both the design and the concept are so underwhelming that he will be around as long as New Coke. That is not long at all.

I think that's his Rambo knife. You know, for gutting bad guys and leaving them to bleed out.
I gotta admit, it's a pretty ballsy move giving Cap just one leg.
So exactly who is the new Cap?

It's a secret. For now, just enjoy the luster of the costume.

We have no right to call him that until he has a face-off with Bobby Flay. Until then it's just Shiny Captain America.

Yeah, now I'm imagining that's Cap's look just before he falls on his ass.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Bill Brasky again.

That's not luster.....And coma inducing blindness....Seriously what the fuck is next.....Tony Stark decides to run around in Red and yellow spandex.

'Cause he's edgy!

EDIT: Haven't we seen this kind of re-design from Ross before? (scroll down)

Boy likes his black pants and wedge tops, huh?

Captain America causes seizures.

Oh, it's luster baby! Serious, patriotic luster! Cap must've carnuba waxed the fuck outta that thing.
I'll give the benefit of the doubt that the shiney is just an artistic thing... Unless Colossus is the new cap... I haven't been following all that closely anyone got idea's on who the new cap is? Bucky? Punisher? Nick Fury? Maverick? I'd say make him Wolverine, he isn't in enough comic books.
The new Cap is Jason Todd! Long live the Amalgam era!!!
Nope I've figured it out.....The new Captain America is.......Steve Rogers.
New Cap LOVES the taste of cock!!! And that's okay by me.
The more I think about this, the more I like it. Steve Rogers was always a cypher. Get rid of him. Now you can reintroduce a Captain America with some klind of personality.
But the costume definitely sucks.
I've always hated chrome on cars. I think it looks like cheap plastic. I always imagined that if some kind of "chrome" fashion style took off in society that it would look ridiculous. Sad to see I was proven correct.

Yes... because Steve Rogers is NEVER coming back. He most certainly won't be back just in time for the Captain America movie.
This is absolutely the last thing the Captain America comics needed.

What's the inevitable outcome here? That eventually Steve Rogers comes back, goes mana a mano wth the pretender to the throne, and triumphantly reclaims his identity as Captain America by putting on his original duds?

BORING

Isn't this just BUCKY?
He's a dark and gritty gun guy now. And he probably got the shiny metal armor from the guy who made his shiny metal liefeld arm.
It's Steve Rogers. They're pulling some kid of Invaders/Avengers temporal BS and pulling him from the past to fight in the future. Or something like that. Hey, what a minute...maybe it's Eric Bana or Spock then!
Ha I know who the new Captain America is. Well an idea.

If you've been reading The Chosen, you'll have an idea of who I'm guessing.

It really seems like they're setting up the main character of that story as Captain America's successor.
U.S. Agent only WISHES he had that much shine.
Apart from the chromed part, I have no problem with this costume...Cap's used guns and other weaponry in WW2 stories, since he was a soldier, and if its another person in the costume, it would make sense for him to act like a soldier as well....WW2 Cap had no problem using guns, blades or kicking Nazis into furnaces.
Although the gun/knife thing was already pulled off by Union Jack, ill admit.
All things considered, Brubaker's run on capatain America has been fantastic so far, so Ill trust him on this one.
Yeah, apart from the giant, garish, completely distracting and overwhelming chrome part, it's fine.

Enlighten us please. I haven't read anything other than Planetary or The Ultimates in years, but I'd like to know your opinion.

Well if you don't feel liek wikipedia'ing it, the series starts with a soldier in Iraq. He's doubting himself and questioning the war and then his squad is under attack. His teammates are pinned down and asking for help and he's scared shitless. Then he sees Captain America. Him and Captain America team up to takedown all the bad guys and save his men. Then when he questions his superior about Captain America none of his team saw him and said he saved all of them by himself. Then you see Captain America hooked up to medical machines and electrodes on his head and screens around him showing the soldier. Then doctors and scientists are seen saying that Captain America is going to die soon. The second issue has the soldier wondering if he's crazy and his squad clearing out a cave. They're under attack and the cave collapses in or something and he's scared and he's the only one not covered in rocks but he's too scared to help his teammates because of a bad childhood memory. Then once again Captain America shows up, basically tells him to stop whining and get off his ass, and he saves his squad again. Then when he asks Captain America just what exactly is going on here, he replies "I'm dying".

There's three other issues to go. This is just what I remember from it.
