I was very excited to see the American Reunion movie. I saw American Pie just after college and remembered it was quite funny. Jim, Michelle, Oz, Heather, Stifler reunite for their high school...

Hey, here's an idea Anchor Bay... release a disc with JUST the new featurettes and shit and I'll pay up to 14.99 for it without complaining... other than that you can go and suck a bag of dicks.

On the full screen second disc: Apparently, the version in 1.85:1 was cropped, even though it's approved by Raimi, and it's 16x9 enhanced, the top and bottom was missing some space. So the full frame, or open matte version, I've read, is Raimi's original intended version, before he decided to 16x9 it..
On the subject of the release, I got the current release 2 years back at Best Buy for 8 bucks, so I'll pick up this version. Here's hoping that the Army Of Darkness S.E. gets re-released. I missed out on that one, and it's going for big bucks on E-Bay.

While reading those specs, I almost talked myself into buying this. But then my justifiable rage kicked back in. I've got the Necronomicon and I'm sticking with it.
It's stuff like this, though, that's actually soured me on DVD in general. I've learned with new releases to never settle in a single-disc because something better was coming, but now even older movies never seem to have a definitive edition. So I find myself getting pissed off every year when they release new and better versions, after I was sure I was done buying that particular movie. And with the next-gen formats already out and vying for our attention, it seems to make even less sense to keep collecting regular DVD, since I'll have to upgrade to a whole new format in a few years.
Now, the only way Anchor Bay can get more of my Evil Dead money is to put out the entire trilogy in a working chainsaw that's delivered to my house by Bruce Campbell himself (I might settle for Ted Raimi).

I haven't bought any of the Evil Dead dvds strictly because of these constant re-releases (though I did pick up a bare-bones Army of Darkness last Halloween while desperate for something nice and campy to watch) but jesus, I'm starting to wonder if I ever will bother picking one up at the rate they are popping those out.
If I was one of those people who just bought dvds for the movie, sure. But I utterly -consume- special features.. and have been tricked into double dipping too many times in the past just to get at those sweet, sweet extras..

The Army of Darkness: Director's Cut: Bootleg edition is the only one I'll need. And I believe that came with the theatrical cut.
