Halloween Costumes - Page 2

One of my friends in the Philosophy department invited me to a house party in SF on Halloween. He's going as a gored participant of "The Running of the Bulls"--complete with a bull likeness on the rear of his bike--and I'm going as the The Dark Knight version of the Joker. My main twist on it is I'm going as the Joker on LSD.

Yeah, I'm big and muscley with a thin layer of fat (just enough so that I don't look cut anywhere but my arms, dammit) and brown hair, and she's a red-head with a model type body. A couple of years ago we went as Jason from Friday the 13th and one of his victims. If I ever feel like figuring out how to post a picture here (almost 6 damn years and I've never tried to do that) I'll stick one up.

There goes my George Jetson suggestion then.

Lisa, no one is pretty enough to go as Nick Rhodes. Even Nick Rhodes has to work at being pretty enough to be Nick Rhodes...

Your Keith Richards gig sounds tremendous. Do you still mess around with the make-up kit?
Naaah, that was years ago. But yeah, the Keith one was hard to top - I wish I had pictures, I was pretty proud of that one.

I love Halloween, and honestly, I haven't dressed up in ages. Really, the last time was nine years ago, and I missed the party. I had a great Jackie Kennedy costume - the pink suit, the pillbox hat, little gloves, the works. I was gonna splatter myself with fake blood and wear a sign on my back that said, "ASK ME ABOUT MY TRIP TO DALLAS". The party was at 8:00 PM... and my new bed and mattress was being delivered at 3:30 PM. See where I'm headed? The delivery guys left, I put on my brand new sheets and comforter which I'd just bought the night before in anticipation of the bed delivery, laid down to test it out around 4:00 PM - just to test it! I'm fine, I'm just going to shut my eyes for 20 minutes on my new bed - and woke up in time for SNL at 11:30. I never got to the party, needless to say.

Couple years ago, I went as "The hangin' Judge"; black robe, death face make up and a trickle of fake blood out of the corner of the mouth, and a noose 'round the neck. Spices up the standard jurist fare a bit, no?
Halloween's my birthday. I'm going to accompany small child to houses and hit them up for extra Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Then I'm going back to the house and listen to Jeff Wayne's "War of the Worlds" cds. May watch a movie after that. May get birthday nookie from my wife. May do both.

I used to LOVE playing Halloween gigs back when I was in bands. I totally miss that.

Yeah it certainly does. A friend of mine even suggested to find a huge gavel (which oddly enough one does in exist in the office) and go as that villain (Name escapes me at the moment) in that one Batman: The Animated Series episode that ended up being a third personality to Two-Face.

I like wearing whatever I want and telling folks that I'm going as Bob Sacamano.

Just make sure you have one of those giant "Rat hats".

That's just as good as saying you're Carlton the Doorman or the grown up version of Frank Furillo Jr.

If I had the hair, I'd totally go as the Tenth Doctor. The easiest Doctor to do would probably be Eccelston, my brother's got a leather coat...

I've got a thing for British cult figures, anyway. I went as John Steed one year in college and Arthur Dent three years ago after I figured out that I had the exact same bathrobe that Martin Freeman wears in the film (and the insufferably neurotic outlook to boot).

I'd like to go as Indy, if only to get a fedora, coat and whip for opening night in May. Where would I find the necessary parts? Herein lies the question.

This thread is desperately lacking pictures of Chewers in costumes. I posted one in the Chewervision thread, but I want to see everyone else. Seeing costumes is much more entertaining than describing them.

Funny you mention the hair cuz with enough proper messing around I would pull it off quite easily. Oddly enough I found the suit and it's dead ringer.

Problem...it's $400. Which to be honest for the cost of a suit, isn't exactly all that high.
I'm still working on it. I found an orange sweater and red skirt today but I still need the orange socks and red shoes. I'm hoping the socks I ordered online are something remotely resembling the color of the sweater. It's not surprising, I suppose, but it's hard to find ugly orange colored clothing.

No, not at all. Hell, I'd buy it, if I wasn't losing my hair...

I found the Steed suit at a Goodwill store for $75. It provided a good decade of service til it simply wore out.

You know I just might buy it next year (Saving for Sydey and I ain't going into debt for this). Fact is it is a real suit and would be fun to wear around the office. Alls I would need is some brown shoes. If anything I think I'll buy the tie as a treat for myself sometime soon.

And speaking of Halloween pics Englebert. My thinking was that this was just a thread to talk about Halloween costumes since the holiday is coming up. If people want to post pics of their old costumes, by all means go right ahead.

There was an older thread where people posted their pics (I remember someone's Ghostbusters costume, and I posted a couple in there as well), but I did a search, and couldn't find it...

I was Meatloaf last year. I'm all about simple costumes for the corpulent gentleman, this year I'm thinking Uncle Buck.Attachment 2394

Ok, apparently the sewer doesn't like posting pictures from my blog, and I had to use imageshack. Here's the pic of my wife and I as Jason & victim, complete with the "Best Couple Costume" trophy we won.

Best "lazy costume" ever. The best part was that this was at a party that took place on her friend's farm, complete with a hayride from the parking area back to the party. We just missed a ride, and didn't feel like waiting for the next one, so we walked. When I came out of the woods, people started freaking out before they realized that I was just another party-goer.

Back when the phrase "All that and a bag of chips" was popular (I'd guess about ten years ago), my friend and her husband went as "All that and a bag of chips." Her husband hates Halloween - loathes it completely. So they got invited to a Halloween party, and my friend had to figure out a costume for him that woudn't have him bitching all night. So he wore jeans, sneakers and a sweatshirt that said, "ALL THAT". She had the misfortune of wearing a foam rubber costume of a potato chip bag, with her head, arms and legs sticking out of the holes provided. It was cute though - technically, it looked like a bag of Lay's, so she was brand-specific at least.

This year I'm not sure as to what's happening, with Halloween falling on a weekday and we're moving that weekend. But last year, Buff's Gal, my buddy Roger and I went as zombies...Was also the first time I ever did the makeup and costumes and stuff. It was really fun. I'm also posting a picture of one of the best costumes at the party we went to. This guy made everything from scratch..including the sword...

My favorite costume was John Hinckley. I made a t-shirt with a nice pic of Jodie Foster that said "I *heart* Jodie Foster", had "Catcher in the Rye" tucked into my pocket and a gun tucked into my waistband.

Only if you had a friend go as Ronald Reagan had the joke been fully realized.

You look like you wandered off the set of Shaun of the Dead.
Thanks man! I was actually surprised how well the makeup came out. My buddy in the pic with the Twins shirt had a sweet neck wound with fake glass sticking out. Our schtick was that he was at a bar watching a game when I burst through the window, glass shards piercing his neck and then bit him. Good stuff. Here's probably my fav shot of that night. Total accident, but I love how the girl is zombiefied in the mirror...

The girl's nasty armwound...

Great makeup. I'm wearing two polo shirts: one pink and one baby blue. Collars are popped of course. I'll also be sporting a trucker hat and a Bluetooth headset. After smattering everything with blood and guts, I'll be making quite a zombie douchebag.

Will post pics after tonight.

Make sure to wear flip flops and have your cell phone clipped to your belt.

This is how it turned out. I wanted to wear flip flops, but it was rainy, and I like being as comfortable and warm as possible (I was a Ghostbuster and Indiana Jones the past couple times). All that was really missing was a Livestrong bracelet and a douchy belt buckle..

I'm probably going to the Zombie Walk tomorrow, I'll post more pics if I go.

I went as Maximilian Tyrannosaurus, an obscure character from a series so underground that only I know about and no one else. He's a...werewolf...from the future...who fights vampires...and space vikings.
I went as Dr. House. I even went so far as to make a fake label for a prescription bottle and put some Tic Tacs in it. I realized about an hour after getting to the bar that it probably wasn't a good idea to be showing it off and popping pills from it. I almost got into a fight with Super Dave Osborne when he said I wasn't really a doctor.

Here is a look at the costume I wore to a party in San Francisco last night.

I've always wanted to go as Road Warrior Max, but it's cost prohibitive, since I won't do it unless I'm doing it right. A few Weens ago I dressed up in all blue and painted my hair electric blue, and I found a bunch of undersea stickers and glued them to my all-blue body. I went as "the sea". Conceptual costumes are ok, but only if you don't mind explaining yourself every five minutes.

Funny, if you had kept that blue paint. You could've gone as Amok from The Specials

Last night I saw a few costumes. Couple of Amy Winehouses, roman soldiers, firefighters, some guy with a navy cap and a spatula. I also then got into an extended conversation with a waitress named Flo and impressed some guy knowing that he went as Harold Lloyd.

I went as Mr. Blonde to work.

Was there a kill crazy rampage at work also? Or did you do the "Stuck in the Middle with you" dance during lunch which thoroughly impressed the co-workers?

Dr. House at your service: (I had a great beard going but accidentally shaved out of habit on Friday... the day before the party)

Instead of House, Brendan instead went as Johnny Smith from The Dead Zone. Nice work there Brendan.

That would explain why this one guy asked if I could see into the future. I didn't know what he meant so I limped away.
