Has any other DVD been distributed in so man different configurations? I only ask I tend to just go to Best Buy to get my DVD's as it's like 1 minute away and I can run in with the kids easily there.

And nice work on the list as it informs people what extras they may be receiving at stores.
Shill! And what's a Tranformer?
Thanks for the list.

A reversible Transformers beanie, you say? Hastings, here I come!
It's too bad none of the Dvd's come with Megan Fox. Then I'd definately be picking this up.
Bought the 2-Disc and the special features blow. "Hours of features" means about two hours of fluff.

Sigh...bring on the double dip.
Fuck. I bought the one with the prequel attached from Walmart and opened it to read the features list and make sure it came with the shit I wanted to see. Because I opened it, Walmart will not take it back and give me the money I need to buy the real 2-disc special edition.

My solution? Sell the dvd to a buddy for 10 bucks less what I paid for it and go buy the 2-disc. At least this way I get to see the prequel which should be fun.

Watching my dvd of Transformers right now. I went with the cool looking 2 disc Optimus Prime transforming dvd case that was exclusive to Target. Of all the store exclusives, that one was the coolest.
How cool is it? My local Target was sold out by the time I was able to get over there.
It's a bit lame. It's less of a DVD case that transforms into Optimus Prime, and more of a crappy toy with a DVD holder stuck to the back.

I'm enjoyin the movie though. Shia is hilarious. Megan Fox is smoking hot. And all of those transformers are total jerks. Great fun.

Also, at Suncoast and its related stores, if you buy Transformers you can get either Gattaca or Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within for only $6.00!

I passed.

Now if only I wanted to buy this glorified car commercial.
Gattaca rules.

I thought the same thing when it was in theaters, and I despise everything Bay has done besides the Rock, which I'm just passive about, but I'm watching the movie now for the first time, and I gotta say... it's not bad.

EDIT: And now this final battle is starting to sway me in the other direction.
it's pretty cool that they went all out and didn't make the hd-dvd edition of this a fucking flipper. Nice to find two seperate discs in the package. But man, the wait time for downloading web enabled content is just wretched...at least you can skip it.
I like that the DVD case has different cover art that the cardboard slipcase. That needs to happen more often.
I heard that the special features about the visual effects were pretty interesting (despite CGI making-of-features tending to be all the same).

Is that not the case?
Yeah, what is the consensus on the quality of the extras? I'm interested in the commentary.
The extras are pure fluff.

And I thought there was supposed to be some fucking prequel on the DVD. I thought that Peter Cullen had stated something along those lines.

That was an exclusive at Best Buy or WalMart or something. I heard it was lame and had like three lines from Cullen in it.
The one from Wal-Mart has an extra disc that is basically the first chapter of the prequel comic that came out a bit before the movie with some sound and motion added.

Its misleading because they advertise it as being animated and narrated by Cullen/Prime. It is neither.

The chapter in question is narrated by Bumblebee and Prime is shown briefly in a flashback briefing BB on his mission.

I wanted it, but it only comes with the single disc version of the movie. I'm a DVD extras guy so I didn't wanna sacrifce the Special Features disk or double dip myself just to get everything. Sos I bought the special Target version instead.
I think I'm gonna have to get the Target version because all these other ones either suck or are just cheap add-ons(free hat, trading cards, t-shirt).
I just bought the single disc no features edition because I don't have time for featurettes or commentary anymore. Too many movies to watch... too little time.
I think the features are great. Well worth the extra few dollars to avoid the floating robot heads.
The prequel thing fucking sucks.
Like the Sam Jackson SOAP messages, you can send a personalized Optimus Prime "DVD ad" to your friends & family: http://optimus.transformersmovie.com/

Shit, and I just had my wife pick up the set at Walmart. 2-disc is out there, huh? I'm tired of the multiple versions. I blame the rental places.
Didn't Nick say that the special features were so good that he figured a double-dip wasn't necessary for a long while?

I still haven't gotten around to checking them out, but I'm sure Nick wouldn't have exaggerated TOO much...

Edit: Spelling stuff.
I'm done with the 2-disc editions where the extras are fluff that I may watch once. It's gotten to the point where buying the 2-disc version is rarely ever worth the extra $7. I bought the "regular" Transformers, and I don't feel like I could be missing out on much.
