Hmm. That could be kind of interesting. Is the show really worth checking out?

This is amazingly hilarious news. I am working my way through Season 1 on DVD and I like what I have seen so far. I'd love to see how the Brothers Winchester deal with the lovable zombie retard.

Holy hell! Is this some kind of April Fool's prank come lately? I can't wait to see this. Now, all we need is a Supernatural-Hack/Slash crossover event.

Supernatural is worth checking out. Period. It's a damn good show that has built a damn good mythology and executes it well. Not only that but the shows take on some old myths is really interesting. Plus it gets away with more "gore" like elements than any other t.v. show I've ever seen. The last episode had a guy die by way of table saw. And yeah, they went there.

Then there we go. Added to my netflix que.

Never bothered with it because of that douche who was on Smallville, but I will not miss this episode.

Yeah, it really is. I was skeptical because I'm not a fan of Buffy (sue me!) or any other horror tv-lite, but this one surprised me. Pretty compelling story and lots of fun monsters that they run up against. Great effects too, for the most part.

How does the second season compare to the first, for anyone who's seen it?

I don't think you'll regret it. It's some of the best horror going.

The second season is more of the same, but with the show's mythology becoming more and more developed. In addition, we see the cast expand as we're introduced to an underground network of "hunters". Oh, and a guest appearance by Ginger Snaps very own Katherine Isabelle.

In his defense though, that was Smallville.

Much better, it tightens up everything and just seems to find it's groove. Season 2 was great.
They just showed the very first episode over here. Seemed nice but not really noteworthy, exept maybe for production values.
So apparently from what I gather here it seems to have a really decent mythology. And adding Jason pretty much peaked my interest in this one.
Does it pick up pace considerably or is it gaining momentum slowly?
Worth to stick with from episode one?

Good to hear. I'm going to have to try and catch up as much as I can before Jason hits. You just know that's going to be their highest rated show ever...

Funnily enough, I was just re-reading the Season 2 thread, and I noted that I once posted this:
Quote:
I love the fact that "Supernatural" is a distinctively American show (and, no, I don't mean that in an "America Rulz!!!" kind of way). It's a classic road adventure: it's Huckleberry Finn, it's On the Road, it's Route 66(6), but with the supernatural thrown in to the equation. Moreover, as you say, it relies extensively on American urban legends and folklore, which prevents it, in part, from being a Buffy/Angel clone. The Hook. The Wendigo. The Ghostly Hitchhiker. H.H. Holmes. Roanoke Island. Robert Johnson. What's next? Taily-po? The Bell Witch?
And Rath responded, in relevant part, with:
Quote:
As for dream legends I'd like to see, I hope that they do something based around the Black Aggie statue (aka the urban legend that most scared the shit out of me as a kid) and an episode relating to the scary stories of hauntings or kids who died at summer camps across the nation -- almost a "Friday the 13th"-style story.
Go, Rath, with your crazy hair and all.

I only made it through four episodes of season 1 and found it clunky and formulaic, standard 'freak of the week' fare. But then, I like Buffy....
Wow. I can't stand this show, but if this really happens I will definitely watch at least one more episode.

But then, no one likes Buffy more than Rath, and he's a Supernatural fan, so who knows.

I don't know, I've heard for a while that this show is good, and this'll probably be the thing that finally makes me sit down and watch it. And I don't even like Jason all that much...

Really, the only episode I thought was a misstep was the werewolf episode from season 2. That was a pretty lame one, and it sucks they're shying away from creature effects this season.

Not at all. I thought the pilot was better than what came after it, but the show never really reached past the level of ho-hum for me.

How many episodes did you watch?
I actually just started watching it about 3 weeks ago and am already finished with the second season on DVD. I picked the first up on a fluke at Best Buy awhile back when they had it for $20, a friend was raving about it and I'd only seen one episode of it, but it for some reason it didn't catch my interest at the time. Now, I'm Winchester all the way. Any word on if they're actually going to snag Kane Hodder for the role?
I think I watched about the first 12 or so. I stopped around the time they were introducing the evil love interest for Sam. I also checked out the Hollywood episode and Tricia Helfer ep from season 2, but they didn't make me believe the show had gotten any better.
That's pretty cool. I'll have to check this out.
It'll be worth checking out Jason's sable hell holes. Will he decorate a hallway with someone's rose drops? Will someone's eyes slide up and down a teen counsellor's body like a cum snake? Or a masturbating tapeworm? We can only hope. . . I've heard good things about this show from a friend, but he tends to like some lame shit, so I never thought seriously about checking it out, but the response here has been genrally so good, I may have to now.

It's got the best soundtrack on TV.
The show's actually pretty decent, from the few episodes that I've seen. Looking forward to this episode.
Well, shoot, this is appointment viewing.
So after Alex's story on this, the girl and I got the first two discs today from Netflix. We just plowed through 6 episodes. Great stuff so far. Loved the woman in white episode and Bloody Mary (even though they totally ripped of Ringu with the ghost style). Hoping to catch up with all of the episodes before the Jason one. Although, I'm getting worried, because so far after every episode ends with them ending the curse or destroying the evil. Really hope this isn't the way they actually "kill" Jason.
I think everyone should take this with a grain of salt. The show always makes quite a few pop culture references. I'm pretty sure I remember them making comments about Freddy before, as in mentioning the Nightmare movies. I wouldn't automatically assume the Winchester boys will be squaring off with Jason for the entire episode or the actual Jason from the Friday movies. I expecting either a dream sequence/hallucination or some creature taking on the shape of Jason. Hopefully I'll be wrong and it'll be more that that. Either way, this show is worth watching. It's a good show that gets better each season. As horror fans, we give passes to much worse than this.
Never mind. Reread the story and they said it's not really Jason. Way to pick up the details.
Damn. I thought this was a thread finally announcing the release of the FRIDAY THE 13TH Anthology series on DVD.

I've been waiting forever for that sucker...
