Jesca Hoop

The music of Jesca Hoop is perhaps some of the most beautiful pop music I've heard this year, her twangy country voice mixed with the kind of kooky multilayered pop which would seem horribly forced on any other record. It's amazing, sometimes she sounds like the lead singer from Portisheads, sometimes like Jenny Lewis and yet absolutely distinct.

I'd suggest giving Money from her MySpace a listen and trying out the song I've hosted below 'Summertime'

You know, she was on "Morning Becomes Eclectic" back in late 2004.

You can watch the program here.

I saw her open for the Polyphonic Spree a few months back. She was pretty good, and kooky definitely describes her. Definitely different.

You said my personal magic phrase (even if it's not technically supposed to be plural). A pleasant listen, I don't find new music nearly as often as I'd like to anymore.

Thanks for the heads-up.
