She'd make a good Tippi, I think.

Martin Campbell turned down Bond 22 so he could consider this gig. Why did god let that happen?

For some reason CC is blocked at work, but I'm guessing they are remaking The Birds?

Bad idea. The main problem is going to be the same problem as many of the lastest remakes and that is they are going to try and explain why the Birds attack. They will make up some stupid reason like the environment or something and fuck it all up.

I just can't see a remake working without completely changing the whole movie.

There'll be plenty of War on Terror subtext with this one.
Hopefully the CG critters (I prefer the real thing) will look better than the deer in The Ring 2.

And yeah, Naomi would make a good Tippi.

EDIT: Speaking of killer birds, where's Kurtman's THE RAGE?

imdb says Dec 1st release. Is it going theatrical or DTV? Sorry for the derailment.

there is no need for a remake on this film, no need at all.
didn't they do this like a decade ago?

Nooo... never mess with Hitchcock. Did they learn nothing from the Vince Vaughn - Anne Heche remake of Psycho?
I thought this project was killed when Jerry Bruckheimer was holding a press conference with his cast for The Island and when talk of the remake came up his own lead actors, so shocked at the idea of ripping off a Hitchcock movie, said what everybody was thinking and completely tore the idea a new asshole, making him backtrack and say that they were "only considering it."

They did, actually. In the new version of The Birds, Vince Vaughn will keep the masturbation to a minimum.
Of course. The masturbation was the only thing missing from the original.

I can't wait until the remake of North By Northwest when they CGI in not one, but THREE biplanes!
Biplanes are for pussies, man. The remake will have, fucking, helicopters.

There almost never is. When has THAT stopped them?
There's only one way to stop them short of outright IRA-style violence, and that's Chinese-Buddhist-style-self-immolation-on-their-front-steps-media-drawing-self-sacrifice. The question is, what prospective remake will be so offensive that militant film lovers actually are willing to go that far?

Star Wars - A New Beginning

I've never read the Du Maurier story, but it's interesting that his main character was a male. I thought that the title referred not just to birds in the literal sense, but to women in the British slang sense.

The main characters are largely female, and the plot is just as focused on the interpersonal relationships of these women (and with Rod Taylor's character) as the lingering terror of the birds. I haven't really thought about this movie in a while, but I remember all kinds of subtext aligning the bird attacks with Hedren's character and the other women.

You could actually do a pretty good re-make using the Hitchcock version as the source material. There are aspects of female sexuality that one probably couldn't explore in a mainstream film back then, plus the birds could probably be rendered in a scarier way - some of the attacks in the original come off as clunky and even a little funny. Of course, this would be dependent on the director not trying to insert any War on Terror subtext or choosing to explain the actions of the birds.

A true fan supplies their own.

Ooh. Like a Rocky Horror experience.

I shudder t think what the audience brings to enhance that scene. Somehow, I don't think toast and water pistols will be enough.

So was this all smokescreen, as they appear to be still going ahead with this?

Does his willing involvement in the Zorro sequel not buy him some time on the bench?
Redeemed with Casino Royale. I let bygones be bygones. But this seems silly.
I see your Casino Royale and raise you Beyond Borders. Schizo director. Goldeneye is a lifetime get outta jail free card I suppose.
The Mask of Zorro was a fun throwback. Did anyone really see Beyond Borders? The only crap Martin Campbell film I've ever seen is the Zorro sequel.
Love Mask of Z. Vertical Limit has it's moments. Birds remake? Awful idea.

Ha, try 1994. Anyone hear of a little film called Birds II: Land's End?

As far as sequels go, it might as well have been a remake.
