1. POLICE STORY

Jackie Chan's girlfried dumps a cake on him. Jackie later announces, "STUPID BITCH DUMP A CAKE ON ME!"

2. POLICE STORY

Jackie Chan's girlfriend is shown being thrown through plate glass in loving slow-motion.

3. MR NICE GUY

Jackie Chan's girlfriend is shown being smashed through plate glass by a horse carriage in loving slow-motion.

4. MR NICE GUY

The villain's moll is thrown into a quarry pit in a bikini, is called a "bitch", and then is buried alive in gravel.

5. POLICE STORY 3: SUPERCOP

Jackie Chan's girlfriend is thrown out of a flying helicopter.

What the fuck is wrong with Jackie Chan?

You're kidding, right? Are Jackie Chan films are the only ones you can recall with misogynistic moments? (Oh, and females performing stunts: not actually that misogynistic.)

How about beating up the son's girlfriend in The Cooler?

I haven't seen The Cooler, but would wager that it's meant to be an "oh shit" moment.

In Jackie's opuses (opi?), you get the impression that it's understood that women are awful and need to be thrown through windows in loving slow-motion. Just as it's understood that the sky needs to be blue in certain shots. MR NICE GUY, directed by Sammo Hung, is really uncomfortable viewing.

There's a weird thing in China where they're both pretty much horrendous to women in cinema, but also they've been pretty forthright in giving women starring roles in action films and the like.

I think A Touch of Zen (from the 1960s) is the first action film I can think of that has a female action star as its lead.

Well, I've seen them and didn't think they were creepy. But to each their own I suppose.

Not really misogynistic - you're not supposed to sympathize with the men beating up the woman, especially when they sock her in the fetus.

I'd say the start of The Way of the Gun, with the offer to "fuck-start" the head of a raging cunt, and her eventual close encounter with fist, as more misogynistic.

I think it's questionable if it's misogynistic but the following is creepy: Cheyenne relating what a prolific whore his mom was to Mrs. McBain--who who clealry has a thing for and is herself a former prostitute--and talking bout how happy whoever the dude was who fathered him must have been. I don't know what is more creepy there, the Oedipal complex on display by consciously tying the mom and object of sexual interest together or the wistful and comfortable way he meditates on his mom's sexual history

To be fair, it was Sarah Silverman.

A dozen posts and no mention of "Purple Rain"? Shame on you people.

Well it is Maggie Cheung.

Planet Terror is very mean to Marley Shelton, and that's not right at all.

Death Proof, when Abby, Kim, and Zoe leave Lee with the redneck as collateral so they can take the Dodge Challenger out for a spin. See, it's funny because Lee might be raped! "Gulp"! HAHAHAHA!

This thread sucks without any mention of "man talk."
No it's about creepy mysogyny not the awesome kind that girls secretly swoon for.

Isnt "In the company of men" at the top of the list here?
Any random clip from Star 80 could make this list.
I just mentioned Isabella Rossellini in another thread, and this one sure wouldn't be complete without a mention of her scenes with Dennis Hopper in Blue Velvet.

I'm pretty sure Joe Eszterhas has never met a woman.

Throwing this:

There's a thin line between "creepy misogyny" and "fucking awesome", and Prince straddles it more than any individual on the face of the Earth.

My favourite Prince-related moment is in SIGN O' THE TIMES when he swiftly slides between a woman's legs and rips off her skirt as he does so. Awesome or chilling? ONLY JEROME BENTON KNOWS!

When the point is that the men are reprehensible cockroaches, I think that justifies the misogyny.
