Monster Magnet - 4-Way Diablo

Streaming this from their myspace page as I type this. I believe Dave Wyndorf just said he has a cock made of plasm, but I might've misheard the lyrics.

Completely forgot this is dropping into stores 11/6. Huge fan of all of their work, although I have a few issues with God Says No. Dig the shit out of Monolithic Baby, and so far this is sounding killer.

Anyone else a fan?

Absolutely. I was around 14 when I stumbled across the video to "Negasonic Teenage Warhead" on MTV and it floored me. Picked up Dopes the next day and became borderline obsessed with them for awhile. When God Says No came out I went to Media Play to pick it up but I was one Tuesday too early. I asked one of the guys there if they had it and he said it didn't come out for another week. I just happened to browse through their albums hoping to find something I hadn't picked up yet. I was surprised to see what I had came for: God Says No. Turns out it was a European import that had somehow made its way to this particular Media Play, and it was the only copy. It was priced at $29.99. I slapped two twenties on the counter immediately.

Still waiting to come to the Albany, NY area.

Hm, Spine of God & Superjudge are legendary. Dopes to Infinity was pretty great. After that I've casually lost interest in their output due to too much straight rocking and too little of the Métal Hurlant on badass acid vibe.

Still will have a listen at their site though.

Well, I had heard that Wyndorf had all his demos and lyrics for GSN stolen a few weeks before MM went into the studio, so part of the reason GSN is so underwhelming is that it was sort of thrown together on short notice. Considering the circumstances, I generally give it "solid" with an asterisk. Plus the import version has "Silver Future" on it, so points for that as well.

As far as Powertrip being their last great album, IMO while that may be true, Monolithic Baby can hang with it pretty well any day of the week.

Anyway, had no idea that MM had some new tunes dropping. I've been making a list for my next trip to the record store, so I'll have to add it on.
