drug advertisement

Lots of gripes about advertising prescription and over the counter drugs, but right now I'm complaining about the side effects.

There was one recent drug commercial that listed a side effect as "death". Why would someone even consider taking a drug for something that could possible be cured with some form of therapy and or conventional treatment? Why, if it's not a life threating ailment?

I think there was another example for a somewhat useless drug that may get rid of foot fungus. May being the strong word.

Found it

In rare instances, people who took Lamisil have developed a
sometimes fatal liver injury called "liver failure".

This is a serious condition. Some of these people passed away or
required liver transplants.
Seriously, if this shit has the possibly of killing you, why even take the risk?

I guess the risk might be worth taking if you're already afflicted w/ a life threatening, but maybe not immediate condition (like insanely high cholestorol; you KNOW it WILL kill you, just maybe not right away). But taking the cholestorol lowering drug may in rare instances kill you faster thru the much dreaded "rare but serious side effect."

But yeah, if it's toe fungus, risking death seems kind of silly.

But to play Devil's Advocate: What about something like Viagra? If you absolutely, positively can't get it up anymore, maybe due to diabetes or something, is it worth risking death to be able to have sex again? I think probably most men, me included, would say yes. Where does this are fall in your inquiry?

Even if you could get the ole jack hammer going again, I'm pretty sure the resulting action would kill you. I guess if you really that hard up to get laid again go right ahead and kill yourself doing it.

I think the real question is: can you risk NOT taking it??

What bothers me are commercials for products that try to convince people to be something they're not. Like ads in which former sports legends Keith Hernandez and Walt Frazier mock men who have decided to let their hair turn naturally gray. Who are they to provide play-by-play commentary detailing the tough times gray-haired men can have when trying to hit on women? Mr. Hernandez and Mr. Frazier, you are the men who should be "REJECTED!"

I can't stand when guys color their gray. If a guy has gray hair or is going bald, just let it happen - trust me, women generally don't mind. It's when they resort to hair dyes or combovers that it tends to look bad. I've dated balding guys, guys with gray - it's fine, they were sexy anyway.
