Witchcraft

Damn, there hasn't been a band like this to blow me away in quite some time. (Shit I lied - Arcade Fire set my socks on fire when I encountered them for the first time (my own little "late to the party) out in California last month - but just go with me).

If you haven't heard these guys, check 'em out. HEAVILY influenced by Black Sabbath and Pentagram, but with a progressive edge that elevates them to something of their own instead of another "retro" band, a la The Sword.

There's some truly remarkable stuff going on here, and I can't wait to discover the rest of their output (only have Firewood and their most recent one The Alchemist).

Great band, the self-titled is probably my favorite of their albums.

I've listened to the song Sorrow Evoker from Firewood numerous times now, it's incredible. Yeah, time to indulge in a new-found band.

My favorite track from Firewood is "The Invisible", it's a vinyl only track, but I was able to track down an mp3 of it. It's worth tracking down.

Also, here's a cover of Rory Erickson's "Sweet Honey Pie" from the Japanese version of The Alchemist. Witchcraft - Sweet Honey Pie
