Warning for Dr. Who Season 3 Set

If you buy the Doctor Who Season 3 set, released today November 6, make sure you check the discs in your set before you go home. I bought mine first thing this morning, got home and opened it, to discover that Disk One is missing; in its place is a second copy of Disk Three. I took it back to Best Buy for an exchange, this time opening it right away at the customer service desk, to discover it had the same defect. A third one revealed the same, and at that point they just refunded my money. Perhaps its limited to the batch this particular store received, and I plan to try again later at another store near my parent's house, as both Target and Circuit City, the only other places near me, don't carry BBC stuff. Anyway, if you're planning to get it and haven't yet, save yourself a potential trip and check it right away.

Given how lacklustre the opening of the season is you may have dodged a bullet.

Bah, you Brits may be jaded about your country's own product, but we right proper 'Murican fans eat it up. Nothing will disuade me! I will have it!

Seasons 3 is utterly dreadful until the halfway point, then suddenly turns into what can only be described as one of the greatest things ever.

Thanks for the warning! Now, to find money to buy all those DVDs!

I'm impressed that they didn't break it up into 2 sets like they did for the 1st 2 seasons or charge nearly $100 for a complete fucking season.
Seriousy...$90+ for 13 episodes? Are you kidding me?

The price is, indeed, fairly extreme. I picked up the Twin Peaks complete set in addition to the Dr.Who set without really looking at the price tag for either. When the register showed 164 bucks, I literally did a double-take.

Are the seasons stocked with a lot of extras though? Why is the price so high then?

Taxation without representation?

I wasn't too big on season 3 either. Even the much talked about "Blink" didn't do anything for me. The 3 part finale, however, was ridiculously awesome.

BBC DVDs tend to be higher-priced. A friend got one of the Coupling season sets and she paid $35 for what was a two-disc set, if I'm not mistaken.

Why? No idea. It's really the only reason I haven't yet picked up Who S1 or went out and got S3 this week...

I actually enjoyed all of Season 3 except the final episode, but I seem to be in the minority on this.
The second half is undoubtedly stronger than the first, though.
