Dread Central has confirmed it is indeed true. I really don't what to say, but that White Zombie boxset should be cool.

Aw, I was hoping he'd be involved in the CHUD revamp.

This news has me stumped. It's not that I'm opposed to it, it's just that it came completely out of left-field. I guess it makes sense though, since Rob just signed a multi-picture deal with the Weinsteins not long ago and they've been itching (for whatever reason) to remake CHUD for awhile now.

I want Malcom McDowell in this, as Loomis. Wearing that wig.

(insert obligatory "poor Chud had a tough upbringing" joke here)

Wow. Totally unexpected. What's next? The Stuff or Q the Winged Serpent?

Will Devin, Jeremy and Nick be starring?

Y'know, I've never seen C.H.U.D.

But I HAVE seen C.H.U.D. 2 - Bud the Chud, and it might be the greatest film I have ever seen in the history of ever.

Seriously. That movie is a riot.

ETA - I wonder what a remake of C.H.U.D. would do for hits to this site

Will Sid Haig play the John Goodman role?

After being scrutinized for his vision of John Carpenter's Halloween, I find it a little strange that he would attach himself to yet another remake.
Because no one will scrutinize him on this one.

Actually, I will. CHUD is a fluke of a film. There's some really unexpectedly good performances in it. The monster work is decent, could have been better. There are some continuity issues. But what can't be argued, is that it made money at the theater.

Did I just defend CHUD?

whatever, the guy made the devil's rejects. get off his case.

I knew the C.H.U.D reviewers multiple execution of Zombie's Halloween would come back to bite us all in the ass one day.

Devil's Rejects, I'm not even going to get into that movie...

You can defend it. I like it as well. But are you really going to scrutinize this news and wait for every tidbit, hoping to be able point out that Zombie is tainting a seminal masterpiece and how dare he?

That was the point I was making. The only people who remember that flick are the film geeks. I'm sure many people think it's just a website.

you should get into it because i'd like to hear a legitamate argument against the devil's rejects. i don't know what rob zombie did to hurt your feelings but I think he's daring and pretty...er i mean pretty daring! or do I?

as far as CHUD, I like it but it never resonated with me as the fun type of film people give it credit for. I didn't get that much enjoyment out of it. im confused about why the stuff and Q were brought up though. Did larry cohen have something to do with CHUD? Because I agree that Q is on a totally different level than CHUD and The Stuff is as well...as far as b movie fun.

So we'll be getting Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Trailer Trash. Yawn.

i don't get what everyone's problem with Halloween is either. I like the part when little mikey is sitting outside the office while loomis is talking to his mom and he hears them talk about taking him away and then all of a sudden he gets up and runs out of there with that funny look. He was like, "shit, i better go take care of some unfinished business real quick" and then he beats that 8th grader to death. love it!

I hated that part. That kid really annoyed me. I think the movie would have been okay if they completely cut all 30 minutes of the beginning.

"Sidney, how would you like to be skullfucked to death?"
CHUD was a fun movie; part goof, part decent low budget horror fare. But I don't particularly want to see anyone remake it just because I'm sick of fucking remakes. And I agree that Zombie's record has been spotty. There is the potential he'll seriously fuck this up.

i'd wager that at least half of the people that talk shit about the new halloween haven't seen it.

It doesn't make the other half wrong.

well its not really about being wrong or right when its just an opinion. i enjoyed the movie, i guess that doesn't make it a good movie any more than you not liking it makes it a bad movie. so who do we go to for the answer as to if it is a good movie? Alex, get me Leonard Maltin on the phone ASAP!

Pfft, what the hell does Leonard Maltin know, you need Gene Shalit.

I haven't seen Halloween, so I can't comment on it, though I probably will rent the Director's Cut out morbid curiosity.

Why, another remake.... why?!?! I did laugh at that bit about this being the strangest bit of news aside from the mention of a "Troll" remake... Is the thought that "I can do this b-movie better than they did it!"

I'm not shocked that it was a false report. I am a little shocked, however, at how desperate Zombie is to distance himself from it.
