If you're anything like me then you probably find straight laced Christians inherently terrifying. As such a film about a group of Christian Cultists dressed up like members of the Hitler Youth Movement and brandishing crucifix daggers was kinda unnerving. Well it would have been unnerving if the film wasn't so ridiculously, hilariously, bad. I don't think I've heard an audience laugh at so much bad dialogue in my life.

"One of your patients and friends jumped in front of a train"

"God dammit"

Aside from an effective jump scare to kick off things, the film never really gets that scary. Partially because it's impossible to tell if the film is taking itself seriously or not. Whilst the majority of the film would suggest it was serious fare there are moments which are just so over the top and schlocky that you find yourself kinda wondering what the fuck is going on.

For the record the following things to me suggest the film isn't taking itself too seriously:

* A woman takes off her top and the camera pans to a letter with the message 'Soon All Will Be Revealed' scrawled on it

* The main villain makes the Kurgan look sane

* At several points the only thing we see of the massacre is the fixed grin of the killers as they get to work with their crucifix daggers

* At least three children are beaten to death with crowbars

But everything else seems to suggest we should give a damn about what's going on.
