Board procedure question

How does one respond to a duke fleed thread?

Is it better not to say anything at all so as not to provoke him, or is it worth the brief moment of satisfaction to call him out on his tardery?

Please help.

I believe the proper approach is to remain quiet. If we pay no attention to him, he will eventually disappear.

By the way, awesome, awesome Avatar and name. Welcome to the boards!

Look at it this way: If you try to call him out and you're not funny, you'll get a more savage beatdown from us than you would from duke fleed for originally calling him out in the first place.

It's because we love you.

True, but this part of the challenge. Brim may want to respond to see if he/she can rise up to the level of a funny Duke Fleed response.

Perhaps we could make responding to duke fleed a required part of newbie initiation *coughhazingcough*. You're not in until you're fucking funny.

As horrible as it may sound, it's not nearly as cruel as that news story I heard once about the frat that makes its pledges watch Caddyshack for 24 hours straight.

Jesus, even I could only endure a good half a day before sleep, restlessness and the urge to kill set in. Plus, I'd be jonesing for a round of golf, too, oddly...

Smails, any comments on that particular news item? You sound like you should be the authority!

I heard about it quite some time ago. I tried to find a link to accompany the above post, but I didn't have any luck.

I once got a hand job from Margaret Cho. Does that count?

I did my sincere level best here to help bring fleed into the world of sense, and got nowhere. Just enjoy the trainwreck.

Once I got past my initial instinct that fleed was one of the board veterans joke posting, and realized he's an actual person with odd posting habits (and unparalleled bad taste), I stopped the hating. I mean, he's many things, but he's not a dickhead. I actually kind of regret the neg rep I gave him during the bombing thread, though, that thread led to the bombing Jwnazisympathizer, so I guess it's worth it in the end.
I'll say this about fleed, he's way better at staying on topic for the site's content than I am.

Ripoll did it best when he fantasy cast Street Fighter (I think it was Street Fighter) with fleed.

Being relatively new, it took me a little while too. But now, I personally love fleed. I don't care how bizarre or stupid or pointless his posts are. They always entertain the shit out of me. And I always appreciate that he responds to almost every post individually, by name, in a way that only confuses the issue more. God bless you duke fleed.

I've come to believe he's either the bastard child of Gene Shalit or Gene Shalit himself.

Soul Ahn Ice, I also like the fact he prefaces every post by mentioning the name of whomever he is speaking to.

Chris Wood replies to him a disturbing amount in the NFL thread [/narc]

This is one of the reasons I choose to believe he's a 47 year old manchild who just found out about this internet thing 6 months ago. Bless him.

Huh? I don't get it. You treat him like any other poster with great insight.

Every board needs someone to villify. With fleed, it's just a lot more fun than most.

I'm surprised the man himself hasn't responded yet. He's a crafty one, that fleed, I'll give him that.

It's entirely possible that because the thread got so long he's still typing out individual responses to each post.
Oh, snap!
But when he does finally respond, it will be a mindfuck of sheer entertainment, with no less than three references to either GI Joe, the Miami Dolphins, or random, obscure, and excessively violent anime.

Zing! It sounds like you've been doing this for years!

Why, that's just a normal day in the Smails household. All Caddyshack, All The Time is our motto.

Side note - In my fraternity we had a pledge with an older sister who had starred in some late night Cinemax films. During hell week we made him watch them every single night and give a scene by scene commentary during the good scenes. Good times.

You sick bastards. I tip my hat to you and yours.
