Sports Tickets as gifts

I'd like to brag that one of my co-workers gave me lower level hockey tickets to a Hurricanes game this weekend (since I am a fan). 2 tickets for FREE.

worth $150 for FREE. I'm beyond excited.

Now I know that giving tickets or going to a sports event is common practice in the business world to butter up a client.. I've been offered to see NBA events in the past when at conferences.
and in my line of work and where I'm located, getting ACC tickets to Duke and Carolina games are top priority. I"m lucky enough that in the pharmacy industry, 90% of pharmacists graduate from UNC.

So I was just curious, if there are any sporting events you were lucky enough to attend for free either on business or if someone just up and gave you tickets. What games were you able to see?

I'm going to the Colts/Chiefs matchup this Sunday. Work always gets enough tickets for Colts/Pacers/Hoosiers games that I can pick and choose what I want to go to before we give the rest away as prizes.

Twice last week, my wife received (through work) Nets tickets. She enjoyed the games so much, that we are now thinking about being one the few people to actually purchase Nets season tickets.

Occasionally I get tickets in the company suite at Pepsi Center for Avalanche or Nuggets games. Usually the Avs or Nuggs are playing a lower tier team when I get the oppertunity but it's still nice.

I would say some of the worst 40 mintues for a Colts fan,

and the best 20min for a Colts fan.

Back when the company I work for was much smaller, we used to take "Team Building" trips to local sporting events. The most memorable was when the boss piled the entire company into two stretch limos and took us to a very fancy sushi restaurant and got everyone really drunk and then took us to a luxery box at the Staples Center for a Lakers game. Everyone had a blast, but I don't remember much more than that (aside from one of my female coworkers licking whipped cream off my face).

I miss the old days...

The last 20 minutes made the first 40 minutes worth it. It was amazing the number of people that left the stands where I was sitting. No faith!
