It's about the making of a really excellent pornography coffee table book that features photography of porn stars as plain, normal people, both male and female. The real meat of the book, however, is the writing. Not only do these porn stars, the biggest names in the industry, speak frankly, they speak with a great sense of humor and perspective on the industry. The book also features essays from Salmon Rushdie, John Malkovich, Lou Reed, John Waters and other notables who discuss their first experiences with pornography and sexuality.

The documentary is even better, as it gets these "stars" in a very real, interesting perspective. Knowing the source material, they could've made a forty minute boobfest with ocassional one-liners from Ron Jeremy, but it's actually pretty tasteful, and really illuminating as far as what sex on film really means- and I think Jeremy has only one line, thank God. The extras are even better- it's worth renting to see Lou Reed read through sex ads as if they were beat poetry.

Upon further contemplation, I have to add that I had a thing for Teri Weigel for awhile, as she was the filfillment - sort of - of a fantasy of mine.
