I haven't seen No Country for Old Men yet, so I'm siding with Affleck, but from what I've heard, I could be wrong.

I've seen all of Brolin's films this year but haven't caught the ones with Affleck yet. I'm going with Brolin.

Damn that's a hard choice. Both men are having a great year and Affleck has had two great leading roles. But I have to side with CHUD on this one and find this to be the year of the BROLIIINNNN.

Gotta go for Affleck here. Jesse James was an unbelievable performance, and he was damn good in Gone Baby Gone. Plus he really stole the show in Ocean's 13...

Brolin: NCFOM, American Gangster, Planet Terror, & In the Valley of Elah
Affleck: Ocean's 13, TAOJJBTCRF, & Gone Baby Gone.

I'm going with Brolin on this one, even though Affleck has been aces this year.

How is he in Elah? That one is actually playing in English here and I've been on the fence about seeing it.

Now this is a heavyweight fight that'll go nine rounds. Brolin receives a small blemish for Elah, but both AG and NCFOM skyrocket the man into the stratosphere. Brolin, all the way.

You just had to go and make the choices that much more difficult didn't you.

It's Bob, he thrives on the mental anguish of others. Try not to let him work you too much.

Brolin.

Doc Block, Llewellyn Moss, and that grease monkey, Detective Trupo. A holy badass trinity in one year?

The guy has given some standout performances this year.

Brolin squeaks by only because he's in movies that actually might get recognized during awards season. Plus, he gets to fuck Diane Lane on a regular basis.

Yeah, but it's still Christopher Lambert's sloppy seconds.

I think as far as bad-assery, Brolin takes it hands down.

Apparently, she did not feel there could only be one.

I heard she got fed up with all the quickening. Waa-waa.

Of course I'll think different after I see No Country, but Brolin's roles are more character-actor stuff, where Affleck has stepped up to take strong leading roles, so I voted Affleck.

It seems like the 'stache is the source of The Brolin's power. He might be one of the few actors I can think of whose career really seems to have improved as a result of putting on a few pounds and looking older. I haven't been able to catch either of the Affleck movies (believe me, I want to), so it would be unfair to judge. But since Grindhouse and No Country (which I still don't feel adequately prepared to talk about, so I just keep seeing it) are both in my top five favorites of the year so far, I definitely have a newfound interest in the elder Goonie. He was probably my favorite part of American Gangster as well.

Perfect, if only you could have gotten the quote right. Still solid, however.

I would be surprised if Brolin in No Country for Old Men impressed me as much as Affleck in Gone, Baby, Gone, so I vote Affleck.

Of all the movies they appeared in this year, only Ocean's 13 and In The Valley Of Elah came out over here, so I have to give it to Affleck. I'm really happy for the both of them, though.

Affleck's definitely getting the bigger career boost, so goodie for him. But, as much as I love Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford and Gone Baby Gone, neither of those two movies are as high up on my list as Grindhouse or No Country For Old Men.

It is comments like this that remind me why I love the internet.

I haven't seen No Country for Old Men or Planet Terror yet (but I will by the end of next week), but Casey Affleck became a bad-ass this year in Gone Baby Gone, and I never thought I'd type that.

Plus, Casey was NOT in 'The Goonies.'

But he is in 200 Cigarettes. Advantage = Brolin.

According to Entertainment Weekly, neither are apparently. Their "Entertainers of the Year" list is up...and both guys are shockingly absent.

Angelina Jolie and Will Smith are listed instead. What the fuck?!? How have they had a bigger year than Casey Affleck and Josh Brolin? A Mighty Heart bombed, and Beowulf isn't doing that awesome (to be fair, its doing good business just no "blockbuster" numbers!) And all Smith’s had in 2007 was his Oscar-nod for The Pursuit of Happyness…and we’ve yet to see how I Am Legend will be received.

Then again, this is EW we're talking about. So maybe we shouldn't be shocked...
