In October 2003, as controversy grew about the leak of Valerie Plame's name, McClellan stood at the White House podium and said that Karl Rove, the president's top political adviser, and I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Cheney's chief of staff, had not been involved.

"There was one problem. It was not true," McClellan writes in his new book, "What Happened," which is to be released in April.

The excerpt -- three paragraphs from a 400-page book -- reads in full:

"The most powerful leader in the world had called upon me to speak on his behalf and help restore credibility he lost amid the failure to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. So I stood at the White House briefing room podium in front of the glare of the klieg lights for the better part of two weeks and publicly exonerated two of the senior-most aides in the White House: Karl Rove and Scooter Libby.

"There was one problem. It was not true.

"I had unknowingly passed along false information. And five of the highest ranking officials in the administration were involved in my doing so: Rove, Libby, the vice president, the president's chief of staff, and the president himself."
Sigh...

In situtations such as these. I only think back to what Adam Sandler said in The Wedding Singer

"Once again, things that could've been brought to my attention YESTERDAY!"

Tomorrow, the Bush administration will be thankful that the American public is still too apathetic to care about any of this.

Oops! I confused Scott McClellan with Scott McCloud for for a second there. Needless to say I was very confused.

I was going to post this in DarthSidious's evergreen IMPEACH THIS thread.

Where's the mainstream media on this story? Treason, cover-up, conspiracy? The lies are falling in on each other. This is Nixon times ten. And other than MSNBC, this story has been given a hasty, quiet burial by the mainstream press.

It remains to be seen if this will wake up Congress.

It will probably completely disappear over the holiday weekend.

Ms. Plame is none too happy about these revelations...

Quote:
Valerie Plame just released the following statement in response to this new story:
Nov. 20, 2007 10pm EST

Santa Fe, New Mexico--I am outraged to learn that former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan confirms that he was sent out to lie to the press corps and the American public about two senior White House officials, Karl Rove and I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby who deliberately and recklessly revealed my identity as a covert CIA operations officer. Even more shocking, McClellan confirms that not only Karl Rove and Scooter Libby told him to lie but Vice President Cheney, Presidential Chief of Staff Andrew Card, and President Bush also ordered McClellan to issue his misleading statement. Unfortunately, President Bush's commutation of Scooter Libby's felony sentence has short-circuited justice.

Vice President Cheney in particular knew that Scooter Libby was involved because he had ordered and directed his actions. McClellan's revelations provide important support for our civil suit against those who violated our national security and maliciously destroyed my career.

I highly doubt this is more important then him pardoning a turkey. I heard there's gonna be an hour long special about the turkey pardoning and you'll be sure i'm tuning in!

I'm just tired of everyone "coming to Jesus" after they leave the administration.

Just to illustrate my point...

vs.

and

and

This is why we're in the twilight zone. This is collusion with an out of control, lawless chief executive - one who "allegedly" conspired to commit treason, then lied about it on camera, ordered others to lie for him, and commuted the sentence one of his inner circle who was caught lying for him.

From a little further down in the article:
McClellan, who was White House press secretary from July 2003 until April 2006, said he's still writing the book and that his publisher had highlighted the excerpt to build interest.

Peter Osnos, founder and editor at large of PublicAffairs Books, said Wednesday that the book won't say Bush deliberately lied.

"Scott's not suggested that the president was himself party to a conspiracy to mislead. But it's pretty damn clear that other people knew what they had done and didn't tell the truth," Osnos said.

Osnos said the excerpt was released at this time because the company's book catalog came out Tuesday and reporters had begun asking questions.

Card appeared frustrated Wednesday that McClellan was not releasing more information to clarify the issue.

**

since the book isn't even done, there's not much the media can report on -- and putting a relatively empty story on the front page would overshadow all the things they can say about angry travelers and such.

There may be a feeling by the news agencies that reporting on this is just playing into the publicity stunt. This is essentially a dead end since McClellan isn't going to talk (he'd rather sell more books). it IS however crucial to the continually growing pile of shit that may, one day, fall all over the administration's smarmy face.

I love America, I really do. But at what point does one stop bailing and abandon the sinking Titanic? Perhaps at the point of President Clinton 2: Neocon in Liberal's Clothing? I really don't know anymore if America is salvageable or not. A deep and all-encompassing madness has taken root here. And it's resistant to Roundup.

Since I have my own ongoing investigation right now into this story, I won't be able to post a significant reply as my ongoing investigation prohibits a valid reply since my ongoing investigation isn't completed.
