Mooooooo...it's Elephant (2003)

Bela Tarr meets Alan Clarke. Profound (yes, it is), subtle and incisive. It might not be as "real" as Paul Greengrass's docu-dramas, but as a simple and poetic rendering of something really rather devestating, it's incredibly humane, as Van Sant never really fails to be, flaws and all.
