Sherri Shepherd Doesn't Get That Whole BC Thing, Insists "Jesus Came First" - Page 2

Seriously, we think you're an idiot who can't argue. You think we're assholes with inferiority complexes. Let's just move on and be done with it.

Back to Sherri Shepherd.

Oh, trust me -- I can be one of the biggest "secular left" assholes in this particular forum. But there's also some very good discussion to be found in here occasionally (see DaveB, Frank and others), as well as the latest "dogpile on the ign'ant Christian" threads.

We got it all!

What may surprise a lot of non-Christians--and almost certainly Sherri Shepherd--is that the Apostles are actually in agreement with you. Paul basically tells his followers not to open their mouths when they don't know what they're talking about because they make the entire fledgling movement look bad--he also sort of pokes fun at "charismatic" believers in his famous "Hymn to Love"--and then there is this choice quote from the author of James' epistle: "If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless."

You must be new to the internet. Here, let me help you out a bit. If you say something retarded, you'll get retarded right back. If you say something stupid, you'll get a whole lot of stupid in return. If you say something insightful, you'll be called a pretentious douche nozzle and possibly be called a fag whose shit is all retarded. Thanks for playing.

Well, I have to run, but I do love the fact that I can't even comprehend a "level of people above" someone. Sounds awfully elitist.

Now, I'll take you seriously for one last second. The difference between FrankCobretti (who is, incidentally, one of the absolute finest posters on this board, and I'm slightly ashamed to have been so cruel to you, since he would not have been) and the rest of the individuals who responded to you was the level of ambiguity in the reply. He was pointing out that it was funny. The rest of us (Schwartz, Chris Wood, Soul Ahn Ice, Graynadian) were attempting to explain the source of the comedy.

The best part about the whole thing (as I told a fellow chewer today after your first terrible post in this thread), is that you could have come in with the same point, but made it constructively. A discussion about why we care what Sherri Shepherd thinks, the role of celebrity opinion in public discourse, and other related issues actually could have been interesting, even if it's been done to death. But, you came in here on a false moral high horse (I'm very certain you've been dismissive or inconsiderate before in your life, and I'd be willing to bet that at times it's involved the stupidity of others) and you got frustrated for it. In fact, you just insulted Soul Ahn Ice for his stupidity, which seems contrary to your general stance in this thread.

Either way, this isn't constructive, and it's ceased being fun. But, seriously, save your chastising next time. There are plenty of people in here willing to engage you in conversation about topics, and as part of that conversation, acknowledge genuine differences of opinion. You just have to be interested in finding it in the first place.

Pretentious douchenozzle.

Imagine all we could have learned from Paul if the Greeks hadn't tossed him to the lions.

I got no problem calling stupid people stupid. She's wrong even as a Christian. If Jesus came before everything, I'm sure Moses, Abraham, and the rest of the Old Testament menagerie are meaningless.

Bitch thinks the world is flat. Has she even been on an airplane?

Ignorance is not harmless. Not even close, in fact. And Shepard's is particularly not worthy of generosity because it is willful. It's not like this is an obscure, complicated or esoteric point; it's fourth grade history. If you don't know what you're talking about, you should shut the fuck up. If you don't, then it's your own damn fault if people are ungenerous to you.

And Barzun, you are a giant, bawling pussy. Which is fine and all, but there are about 7000 more appropriate places to direct your charitable feelings toward than the highly successful, enfranchised stupid.

I'm not sure why people are defending themselves to the vagina-sulk, yeah we're assholes towards stupid people, that's what makes us great.

I wish Millette was still here.

No shit. With him gone and Devin retired, this is like Namor and Aquaman being out of town the day hammerheads finally start some shit.

When it comes to message board diplomacy, a good rule of thumb is the WWFCD? principle. I'm always happy when I look back on old posts and I was able to keep my cool.

Since when has Devin been retired? He seems active enough to throw red boxes and insults my way on a semi-regular basis.

Yeah, I get about three-quarters of my neg reps from Faraci, I just think he's bored with posting.

He said somewhere he probably wasn't going to post anymore, and hasn't been around much lately. I'm sure my user profile will reflect his ongoing presence shortly.

But in the meantime, and on his behalf, I would like to reiterate that Barzun is an enormous, sloppy, bawling pussy.

My room mate and I had to watch the video a few times to really believe we heard what we heard. Both of us immediately brought up the Old Testament (my room mate having zero religious background) and how hilarious her statements were. Then we looked up the world is flat comments and continued to laugh some more.

Then that evening my mom called, who has far too many moments of blinded by religion ignorance (I'm not calling religion ignorant, I'm saying people justify ignorance with religion far too often) and she couldn't help but laugh at this lady saying nothing came before Jesus.

So like Frank said, I care only in that this is absolute comedy, and I thank her for that.

And Whoopi, the voice of reason? Holy fuck. My mind was blown.

Didn't you know that The Whoopi is infallible?

Hey Sherri, what do you think about allowing young boys to try on dresses?

I think girlfriend needs to travel a little, see things from another point of view.

Christ, debating ideologies is one thing, but when someone clearly misrepresents the facts, you call them out on their bullshit and ignorance. The thread's a great read, but it seems rather long for such a simple topic.

2. Ah, but I didn't say it was merely beneath you to care about this- I said it was ungenerous- that is to say, mean- that is to say, harmful. To whom? To those who are not dumb like this woman is dumb- one of the great faults of the secular left these days is the nastiness, and I think a thread like this is evidence of that.
Congratulations about being the first to receive a neg rep from me. Your agenda is now clear.
