Oh, trust me -- I can be one of the biggest "secular left" assholes in this particular forum. But there's also some very good discussion to be found in here occasionally (see DaveB, Frank and others), as well as the latest "dogpile on the ign'ant Christian" threads.

What may surprise a lot of non-Christians--and almost certainly Sherri Shepherd--is that the Apostles are actually in agreement with you. Paul basically tells his followers not to open their mouths when they don't know what they're talking about because they make the entire fledgling movement look bad--he also sort of pokes fun at "charismatic" believers in his famous "Hymn to Love"--and then there is this choice quote from the author of James' epistle: "If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless."

You must be new to the internet. Here, let me help you out a bit. If you say something retarded, you'll get retarded right back. If you say something stupid, you'll get a whole lot of stupid in return. The difference between FrankCobretti (who is, incidentally, one of the absolute finest posters on this board, and I'm slightly ashamed to have been so cruel to you, since he would not have been) and the rest of the individuals who responded to you was the level of ambiguity in the reply. He was pointing out that it was funny. The rest of us (Schwartz, Chris Wood, Soul Ahn Ice, Graynadian) were attempting to explain the source of the comedy.

The best part about the whole thing (as I told a fellow chewer today after your first terrible post in this thread), is that you could have come in with the same point, but made it constructively. A discussion about why we care what Sherri Shepherd thinks, the role of celebrity opinion in public discourse, and other related issues actually could have been interesting, even if it's been done to death. But, you came in here on a false moral high horse (I'm very certain you've been dismissive or inconsiderate before in your life, and I'd be willing to bet that at times it's involved the stupidity of others) and you got frustrated for it. In fact, you just insulted Soul Ahn Ice for his stupidity, which seems contrary to your general stance in this thread.

Either way, this isn't constructive, and it's ceased being fun. But, seriously, save your chastising next time. There are plenty of people in here willing to engage you in conversation about topics, and as part of that conversation, acknowledge genuine differences of opinion. You just have to be interested in finding it in the first place.

My room mate and I had to watch the video a few times to really believe we heard what we heard. Both of us immediately brought up the Old Testament (my room mate having zero religious background) and how hilarious her statements were. Then we looked up the world is flat comments and continued to laugh some more.

Then that evening my mom called, who has far too many moments of blinded by religion ignorance (I'm not calling religion ignorant, I'm saying people justify ignorance with religion far too often) and she couldn't help but laugh at this lady saying nothing came before Jesus.

So like Frank said, I care only in that this is absolute comedy, and I thank her for that.
