JL, where in Alexandria are you? (Forgive me if I've asked this before)

There's no rule that says we have to see a movie.

I'm in Del Ray (the neighborhood between Old Town and Crystal City).

Oh yeah. Nice neighborhood over there (it's certainly gotten nicer in the past few years). We had brunch at Evening Star a couple weeks ago. I'm nearby, over in N. Fairlington.

Man those Iphones take great pictures!

Yeah, I've been there 4 and a half years, and I love it. Nice area, good places to eat, and only 2 miles from my office in Old Town. A 5-minute commute does not suck.

Evening Star is awesome. The #9 Lounge (the bar upstairs) is one of my favorite haunts, and I spend way too much time there.

Hey LD, guess who's 75-years-HOT today.

Say, for that age she does look pretty good.
Now THAT is a cougar.
Anyone going to the free Sweeney Todd screening at the Arlington Drafthouse tomorrow?
If I can convince Soul to venture out to Arlington, I'm going.
Even though I'm not really interested in the movie, it would be fun to hang out with you guys. I've got so much work to do this week, though, that I don't think I'll be able to do it. But I'll let you know if that changes.
Yeah, just throw a post in later if you can make it.
What time is the screening? If you guys are going out afterwards in Arlington, I might be able to meet you after the show.
Doors at 7 (followed by a carnival freakshow?), screening at 8. I could grab a beer after the showing, if this ends up coming together.
Is it first come first serve for the seats? I might be able to make it. Also, I went there to see Hot Fuzz but I can't remember what bus to take from Pentagon, anyone know?

edited a second time it seems: I thought the screening was tomorrow and not today, ahh well. Company party tonight and all that, have fun everyone!

hmm....depending on how much work I get done between today and tomorrow, this may happen. I'll post tomorrow.
Attention: Sweeney Todd is TONIGHT. Not tomorrow. Assuming today is Tuesday.

Then that is a no. Wish I could go, but I won't be able to make it to Arlington by 7.
Way to ruin the night for us LD!
Eh, perhaps their e-mails are truthy.
Sorry, gang. Out of town.
As I told LD, I also thought it was tomorrow. As it is not, I'm out. But, to anyone who goes, have fun!
Well gentlemen, I'm headed out of here in a few hours, and will probably be scarce until after the new year. I only mention this because the last time I took a little Chud hiatus, LD thought I'd left for good. I just don't want him to worry!

Looking forward to the January get-together. Merry Christmas, guys!

Next weekend, in celebration of CObretti's big move.
Scotch-swilling southerner, you in?
Geeky asian?
Chris Wood? (It was hard to pick a trait for you that wouldn't be similar to me, sorry)
Callahan? (yeah, I'm tired of it, whatever)
Jon Banks?
C'mon. Let's do this.
I'm in for Saturday night. But only if we say it, "S. A. T. U. R. D-A-Y <beat> Night!"
If you dress up like Mr. Peanut, I'm buying all night.

just so we are clear "next weekend" meaning the weekend of the 18th (since we're all so good with days vs dates as this thread shows)? I could do next weekend. Who's the geeky Asian? I mean im Asian, but more dweeby I always thought.
Yes. The weekend of 1.18.08. The weekend that New York dies. Luckily, we'll just be chilling in D.C.
Count me in! It'll be good to hang out with Mayor Cobretti before he takes to the Friendly Skies!
If it's on Saturday (1/19) then I'm in. Word.

Do you guys want to just to dinner/drinks as opposed to involving a movie?
Why not just start with dinner and drinks, and if we feel like spiraling into a movie once we're all pleasantly lit up, we go for it?

Also, we're dedicating a Saturday night to a chewer meetup. In many ways, this is the nadir.
Sounds good to me. My only request if we're meeting downtown or in MD is that it be accessible by public transport. I'll be leaving the car at home to get pleasantly lit up.
I think it's LeFors turn to pick a spot, and I know he's a big public transportation fan, too. Shouldn't be a problem. Hope you own a lot of leather, though. He's into that.
Here are a couple of options:

Chinatown/Metro Center area. Tons of places to eat and drink, and accessible by every major line for convenience. Also close to the Chinatown and E Street theaters, which would give us pretty much any movie option we could want.

Cleveland Park. Again, good food and drink options, and the Uptown, should we decide to hit a movie.

U Street. Bars, restaurants, etc... Not as many metro options, and not as close to a theater, but closer to Dupont, which will allow me to get my leather fix.

I'd say Chinatown is probably the most convenient in terms being the easiest spot for everyone to get to, but I'm fine with whatever y'all want to do.
I always say Chinatown.
Yeah, but you have a fetish. An Asian, Luddite fetish.
Better together, I always say.

CHINATOWN GOT SOMETHIN' FOR EVERYBODY!

(Someone had to say it)
Chinatown and Cleveland Park are both good, or even Dupont proper (as opposed to U Street, which is sort of a pain for me to get to).

Yeah, Chinatown/7th St has a ton of stuff.
Well, if it's amenable to the Mayor Captain Cobretti, let's make it Chinatown (or the vicinity).
I've gotta get Singer in here just so he can set up the line for me.

Yep, let's do Chinatown. I'm going to try to get a sitter so my wife can join us.

Unfortunately, she's both Asian and a Luddite, so back off, LD!

There goes half my jokes.

At least you told me now, so I have time to prepare some new ones.
"So...Are ya Chinese or Japanese?"
I'm in although I do think it would be fun to watch Cloverfield while smashed. The other people might not like us too much but there's always that one crowd in a movie you hate, we could be that crowd!
At least we'll know what the monster is by then. If it's Voltron or F. Murray Abraham, I'm in. If it's Godzilla or Scott Speedman, I'll pass.
Wow, it looks like these meet-ups are a bit on the blokey side. I may have to show up to one of these sometime, if only to add a bit of estrogen to the mix, once I know my way around the area better.
Yeah, we pretty much just sit around and scratch. Then we talk about beer and how we hate shoe shopping.
Well shit, then we may have more in common than I thought
