Just curious, what do you actually use to write your stuff? I'm thinking of looking for a typewriter, but I'm still not sure yet. Aside from brainstorming or early treatments, I'm just way too lazy to write everything by hand. But on the other hand writing stuff on the notebook easily distracts. ("uhm... just checking out what duke fleed wrote next")

I've got an older Mac laptop that doesn't connect to the net. It helps avoid distractions like CHUD. I also like having it portable so I can look like a pretentious git at a coffee shop. I use Final Draft as my writing software.
As backup I always carry a notebook with me so I can jot ideas down when they come to me.

I will be picking up Final Draft soon. I need to learn how to use it anyway for work.
The screenplay I am currently working on though I have just been opening up Word and using that. Makes it look like I am doing something at work (not that we have shit to do right now though).
A lot of times though I will write first in long hand on legal pads. I generally prefer that. Then I move to writing it up in Word and going from there into screenplay format.
There are plenty of free screenplay software programs out there though if you want to avoid paying the Final Draft fee.
I plan on picking up though some thin mole skin notebooks to keep in my laptop bag though since they are smaller and would be easier to pull out when traveling than a legal pad.

I generally use my home based Mac, which I disconnect from the internet so I don't end up pissing the time away on CHUD (time well spent mind you).
A lot of times, however, since I'm not home at all, I jot things down on a notepad or speak them into my recording device. My only problem is that I always forget to check what I wrote or I said.
Pages seems to work well for me, for anything really. Though I heartily jump on the Final Draft bandwagon for scripting.
