Package arrived today from Jeremy Jochman:

Great gift!! I got SLITHER, which I did not have, and haven't seen completely since the theater, and 1600 XBox 360 points, which should be good for a few new games. Maybe I'll use them to download Indigo Prophecy.

Thank you very much, Jeremy!

That site.. is.. life-changing. Especially this poem

Alcohol Al

by Vernon H.

Free
Free from the cage, after all these years
The sweet, sweet wind in the sky
Fuckin' beautiful
Steering the straight path
I'm not going down again, no fucking way

But there's one thing i remember
My old man, the drunk
That's when the biggest, baddest monkey motherfucker you ever seen
climbs up on your back
i'm not talking about no curious george or chim chim
thiis is ALCOHOL AL, waiting for you to bend over
ready to squirt his alcohol semen up your cornhole

he's a king kong looking motherfucker with vodka breath
Scarier than any pig (cop)
Scarier than any nightmare
And you don't even know he's on your back
cause he's quiet as a god damn ninja

Well I say, fuck alcohol al
I hope i never see his ugly ass again
If your looking for trouble alcohol al
this is your lucky day, motherfucker
because you just met the dude that's gonna rip your tail off
and shove it up your furry ass

FUCK YOU alcohol al!
i've taken on badder guys than you in the joint
In prison there are three people you gotta look out for:
Blacks, white supremists and fags
in that order

Do you see monkeys on that list? FUCK NO
i'll hang you with your own tail
I'm ready, motherfucker
bring it on janey

Sorry for the derailment, please return to Christmas joy!

I received Jason Thompson's way-generous offerings just before I left for my Christmas vacation on Thursday night: a Wonder Boys DVD, the soundtrack, and the first season of Boomtown. Can't wait to get back to dig into the goodies. I saw Wonder Boys a very long time ago, but I was so blazed I did not process anything that happened. I literally had no memory of the movie the next morning, so this will provide me the opportunity to see it again. The soundtrack? Awesome. And Boomtown falls into the list of critically acclaimed shows I never got to see because I worked night shift for three full TV seasons. Looks like it's on par with Homicide: Life on the Street, which is one of my all-time favorite shows.

Thanks for your generosity, Jason. My first CHUD gift swap was a resounding success.

Just got home from picking up my son and doing a little shopping. It's rainy and bleak outside. But then I got these beauties.....

and

Mr Singer, my deepest thanks and well wishes for a Merry Christmas, sir.
Boomtown is fantastic. Really wish it would've made it more than 1 and a half seasons - is it the entire series in that package, or just the first season?

I thought Neal McDonough was going to make it big after that & Band of Brothers, but seems it hasn't happened...
It's just the first season (18 episodes). Season two has yet to hit DVDs. Boomtown and Line Of Fire are two shows that never got the chance they deserved. I have a huge man crush on McDonough but he really nose dived his career by taking on the crap-tastic Medical Investigation on NBC shortly after Boomtown's demise.

Glad you enjoyed what you received in terms of your gifts bendrix. You will love Wonder Boys... it's my all time favorite flick. Hilarious...
Also... I received a generous $50 donation to my iTunes account from Anthony Sollecito. I plan on nickel and diming the shit out of that card...

Trejo is as cool as his namesake.

Received: a Hellblazer tome written by Warren Ellis, and The Other Side, written by current Scalped scribe Jason Aaron and drawn by fellow Torontonian Cameron Stewart.

And if that weren't enough, Battlestar Galactica: Razor. Featuring the latest addition to my dreams, Stephanie Chaves.

Always do well at these things. You're the Man, Trejo. My sincere thanks and hopes for a happy holiday to you, and everyone else here.

Teledork's gift arrived today, and it was pretty sweet: A series limited edition Godfather film cells. Since I currently live in a cabin in the woods, this can join my "The Office inspirations" calendar, various posters, and my employee of the month award on my wall.
I figure the Godfather's cool regardless of how rural you are, man.

Merry Christmas.

Wow, I feel like a complete shit. Not just because work sucked today but because I didn't trust Chris Allen's instincts and OPEN THE DAMN BOX. He somehow deduced that I was the only CHUD member alive who did not yet possess the...

Blade Runner 4-Disc Collector's Edition

and he moved to remedy the situation.

You are a gentleman and a scholar, Mr. Allen. i won't misunderestimate you again!

(edited to correct sleep-deprivation related mistake)
4 discs of Blade Runner? I scoff at your meagerness, for I now possess no less than 16 discs of Monty Python's Flying Circus! (That's every episode plus 2 discs of entirely silly bonus material for the cheap seats)

Rich Straceski, you are legend.

So, you cursed my name when you saw that box of macadamia nuts, right?

I hate wrapping DVDs for my movie buff friends, as they know exactly what it is when they see the package. So I hid this in a box. I hope you didn't have to fish that box out of the trash to open it.

It was the "ALOHA!" post-it on the lid that really threw me off. Actually, the picture on the box made them look pretty tasty, and everyone I know has been unloading their unwanted chocolate on me this year. It wasn't until I was halfway to work that I remembered your saying you usually give DVDs.

Forgive my faulty sense of humor. This time of year, work gets so crazy I can't afford to assume that anything is a joke.

And I'm enjoying the hell out of this set.
All right, Schwartz is officially awesome.

In addition to Excalibur, two more boxes with that distinctive Shwartzian aroma have arrived at Chez Cobretti: a boxed set of Cormac McCarthy audiobooks, read by Brad Pitt; and the complete Police Squad!

Between that and the Rocky Christmas tree ornament my wife gave me, this is turning out to be one of the best Christmases ever.

Thanks, again, Schwartz! You are the man!

So awesome, as I've been wanting to pick up both discs for some time now (up until today, I've only had an opportunity to listen to them a couple of times).

Thanks Napoleon! Have a Merry Christmas (or whatever).
I'm glad you liked them. I had a very merry Christmas, because f86sabre is a class act and totally overdelivered. In all, he got me:

-From the Earth to the Moon;

-the deluxe edition of Neon Bible;

-and, finally, Bruce Campbell's If Chins Could Kill.

Thank you, sir.

Thanks very muchly for the awesome package Brendan, I'm taking my pants off to enjoy this stuff as you guys read this.

Cool! I just popped in here again to see if you had gotten it. I'm glad I went with my gut, and now hopefully you can bust a gut laughing at all the silliness contained within (not literally of course since that would be absolutely horrible and foul)!!!

Knowing that you are pleased is surely the highlite of my day!

Looking over all this stuff, I've come to two conclusions: 1) either we all have tons of cash to throw around or 2) we don't have any other friends to give presents to. Both explain the sheer awesomeness of all the stuff sent, but I think explanation #2 wins because we can't have a normal social life anymore.
I really hate that I wasn't able to participate this year - definitely back in the game next year. You guys are awesome with all the gifts.
JG, Tati, there's no reason why you guy's couldn't head up a Round Two.

For me, it was just hitting Amazon and finding 30 things I thought would be great for chewers. And my real friends and I don't get each other "gift" gifts really. It's always bringing a bottle of Jack for everyone or buying them a lapdance with a "Merry Christmas" thrown in.

I went to the wrong Christmas party.
No kidding, I need to make friends with Schwartz before Christmas '08!
Schwartz, you could've sent me that and I would have had no complaints whatsoever! Chewers like Jack and lapdances just like normal people, hell, maybe we like them EVEN MORE!
It's odd, in a lot of ways, it was easier buying for Anthony than anyone else I know. I don't quite know how to interpret that.
Sorry people, but I ain't made of tits.
So nobody got something they didn't like or already had? Or got something they think sucks? The odds of that are astronomical. Somewhere somebody opened their package and thought "This is terrible. So-and-so is a real son of a bitch".

I hope I'm wrong, but by golly I doubt it.
I dunno, the fact that I haven't heard from f86sabre since I sent him his goods does not fill me with a sense of relief.
