Maybe there'll be an Ultimates 4 that answers my questions and everyone can pretend 3 didn't happen? Perhaps it's an alternate alternate universe? Ultimate ultimate?

They've pretty much cancelled Ultimates 4. McGuinness is on Hulk with Loeb.

I...I couldn't even get past the first sentence of issue three.

"Scarlet Witch has been killed, gunned down by an unknown assailant in a crowded city street."

...Did...did Wolverine honestly just say that? And is it going to becoming a regular thing, Hawkeye blasting at every non-ultimate hero who stops by for no reason whatsoever? I...A two page spread was not necessary for that, especially when Cap just goes "No" on the next page....

And...T-Rexes.

Just because.

Jeph Loeb thinks it's 1993.

I took a look at Ultimates 3 for the first time while I was at the shop today.

Well, Joe Mad never moved past 1993 (seriously, "manga-esque" isn't cutting edge anymore, Joe. Especially now since everyone knows what manga is, you can find it in any bookstore, and the real thing is invariably better done that your tired ersatz version. The people buying Ultimates 3 are the comic book fan equivilant of the people who made Shawn Levy and Adam Shankman A-List directors or the people that made Wild Hogs such a huge hit. Most comic fans like most movie fans don't actually give a shit about craft or technique. They're just there to kill some time looking at the pictures. I think a some of them are disappointed in Mad's work but no one reading that book gives half a fuck about the story Jeph Loeb is telling. They're just nostolgic for Battle Chasers. (which fucking sucked too)
