Gotta avoid drawing those feet somehow.

So Bloodstrike consists of.. Elderly-Superman, shameless-Wolverine-rip-off, girl-with-purple-spider-man-eyes-on-her-face, shameless-Cable-rip-off-with-a-ponytail, some-lame-ass.. cyclops-wanna-be-with-a-full-face-mask.. and.. and..

Just what the fuck is that last thing supposed to be anyway? Top part of a samurai helmet?

Also, why does Elderly-Superman apparently have a huge tumor in his forehead? Is that what causes the lightning?

What a fucking embaressing cover. Part of a torso, a thigh, and some floating heads over a solid blue background.

It looks like an EXTREME Macy's parade.

I'm still trying to figure out where the perspective point is on that cover. And is the main character being attacked by scanners?

I, um, I could actually discribe the plot of that particular issue if anyone really wanted me to. For some reason I remember that and all the lyrics to Baby Got Back, but my seven and eight times tables are pretty rusty.

Hahahaha nice. Please do tell us! I really want to know.

Not '90s, but related article here. Gratuitous mocking of Liefeld included.

Why do they have ridiculously big guns? They have superpowers so they don't need no fucking guns.
And what's with the jackets?
And why is Invisible Woman dressed like a slut?

Excuse me, i have to go and vomit, all this confusion is making me nauseous.

I think the more pressing issue here is why in the fuck does The Thing have a helmet? Isn't he supposed to be a living rock?
post #60 of 86
Maybe it's a Magneto crossover.
post #61 of 86
There was some FF/X-Men crossover where Wolverine and the Thing went at it and Wolverine clawed Ben's face. The helmet was partly to help his face heal and partly because Ben was convinced he was more horrific than before and didn't want anyone to see.

And I believe that was a lenticular cover, thus the crazy background.

This thread is an emotional LOLercoaster.

An image search tells us that he has improved over the years:

It's still kind of lame, but it's definitly an improvement. Apparently he started up when he was only 18.

The only significant improvement I see is in the colouring, which he probably had nothing to do with.

EDIT: Also, Mark Texeira's recent Ghost Rider stuff was pretty cool.

Please tell me someone in that book is doing the metal face while saying "Making Fuck"

Ha! Fraga! I really liked his Bloodpool run.

And I remember when Brigade had a complete overhaul and became the JLA of Image, with Vanguard & Wally, Majestic and a bunch of characters from different "companies" becoming members.

I used to love... LOVE... Newmen. That's where Jeff Matsuda first broke out, and Todd Nauck as well. It also started up a half-decent revamp with Sprouse on art, but it lasted like three or four issues (this was during Moore and Skroce's Youngblood revamp).

I was a huge Backlash fan, too. Brett Booth was my favorite artist for the longest time.

I actually like Eric Larson, but he really hadn't found his style there, and McFarlane was really good at inking things into shit.

I think Liefeld was even younger when he go into the biz. Which is creative death, especially if you're going to have people praising you to the skies before you've really learned how to draw. I often wonder if Liefeld could have been any good if he'd had any impetus to improve.

Possibly the worst page of professional comic book art, ever? Team Titans #12.
(The dialogue is pretty horrendous too)
post #71 of 86
That was the most arousing comic book page I've ever read.

'Stick it in my crystal'
[blasting at girl's nether region]
'It feels weird!'
'More! Don't be afraid to give in!'
'I feels like everything is draining out of me..'

"I love you."

So, why WAS Kilowatt shooting Dana Scully's crotch anyway?
post #74 of 86
Too easy to pick on Liefield but this is one of my favorite bad covers ...

Before Jae-Lee learned how to draw ...

Jae Lee learned how to draw?

I thought all he learned how to do was silhouettes floating in bright orange and pink voids.

His more recent work is a lot better than his early 90s work, compare;

Old Jae Lee;

Some more old stuff;

Man, all those drawings look like green and blue balls with some text about tripod over them. What the hell, Jae Lee! Learn to draw feet and shit!

whoops!!!

His more recent style;

I totally thought Jae Lee was the next big thing when I was 13. I've still got to give him some credit for not drawing like Lefield, Jim Lee, or MacFarlane in those days. I really like that Young Justice cover.
post #83 of 86
OK, so why is The Dark Tower a mass of illegible shadowed figures?

She (Kole?) had made a crystal of some sort appear (not that you could tell from the art) for Kilowatt to redirect his energy through (do crystals conduct energy well?) in some effort to blast a Lord Chaos robot.

I was all over Team Titans when I was young and naive... I revisited it recently (http://www.geekent.com/BNY/2008/01/b...itans_124.html) and it's some pretty awful crap. Kevin Maguire kicked off the series with some shoddy art (well, good art compared to most mainstream art during the '90's, but shoddy for him), Phil Jimenez early in his career drew nice detail but his figures were all pretty distorted, and Terry Dodson, also early in his career, really wasn't very good at all. And yeah, the half dozen fill-in artists (aside from the one issue Brian Hitch did) were all horrid.

Nothing to see here, just bumping another post-revamp 'n/a' thread.
