who do you hope is/isn't outed by the Mitchell Report?

taking guesses here

I don't know why, but I have a horrible fear of seeing Jeff Bagwell's name on the report. I guess it's all those years with Caminiti that worry me. Him or Biggio would absolutely kill my love of baseball...and being an Astros fan with neither of them around anymore already has it on the edge.
Don't really have a guess or a fav. Just interested to see the fallout or overhype of this all, whichever the case may be.

selfishly I don't wanna see chipper, Paul o'neill, smoltz, helton, or klesko.

I wanna see Sosa, andruw, tejada, and the other obvious ones.
It's a long shot but I'm hoping for Cal Ripken Jr. Asterisks all around!
Tejada wouldn't surprise me a bit, actually. I'm also wondering if Nomar's gonna show up on it.
Bagwell, Sosa, Tejada, and Pudge.

I want to see the pitchers on it. Wood and Prior were always rumored. I can see Prior but Wood had a horrible delivery that caused his injuries. I hope neither is on it.

suspicious of:

Brett Boone, shef, jd drew, Ventura, julio, galaragga, castilla, Brady Anderson, javy, albert belle, Kendall, and many pitchers
post #9 of 81
I'm looking for a wide variety of positions, teams and ethnicities, just so that stupid scapegoating can be avoided.

Find me on a bridge if O'Neill is listed. I'm afraid Pettitte will find his way onto the list.

At this point, however, I'm basically cheering for as many Red Sox (2004 - present) to be named. I know, I'm shallow.

The man couldn't even hit two homers, even after he promised. I wouldn't worry too much about Paul using juice.

I'll cry if Larry Walker, Todd Helton, Vinny Castilla, Andres Galaragga or Matt Holliday are on the list. Dante Bichette would not surprise me one bit.
Clemens and Bonds.

edit - hoping not: Ruth, Aaron, and Griffey Jr.

Almost certainly true.

I really hope Jim Thome isn't picked. I always liked him, but that man LOOKS LIKE A CARTOON.
Like Monkaholic, I'm too aware of karma to hope that Sosa and McGwire are listed but it would be very interesting to see how people treat McGwire vs. Bonds and their records in this regard.

It is blasphemy to even suggest that Cal would be named.

Karma aside, it'd be fun to peruse the list and say "Look! Bob Horner!"

If the actual documents have the phrase "Kirby Puckett took it in the butt," then I'll consider the investigation a success.

Rob Deer?
That was random.

C'mon Clemens! Is there anyone that doesn't want to see him on there??

Me. I like to think that Clemens' anger is what keeps him fit and strong.
Clemens is on it.
Personally I'm sick of the emphasis on the record books. I'm hoping there're a ton of names, equal amounts hitters and pitchers. Especially World Series winning starters. Nobody ever talks about putting asterisks on championships.

Selfishly I'd love it if Josh Beckett was named. Wouldn't want to see DLee or any of the '05 White Sox.

edit- Also, if there was a way to throw Tom Brady on this report, just for the hell of it, that'd be awesome.
It appears Clemens is indeed the first name on the list...

Also, The Bergen (N.J.) Record, citing a baseball industry official, says "several" prominent Yankees will be named in the Mitchell report. The paper said the source spoke to a third party who had seen the final report
I would assume Clemens buddy Petitte will be on as well. All hell will break loose if AROD or Jeter is on.

Has there been any speculation as to how many are on this report?
Pettitte is.

The '05 White Sox were the team that tried to refuse to take the anonymous drug tests, because it would've forced more thorough testing. Of course the MLPA put the bitchslap on them, but my point is I doubt they would've done that if any of them were on the juice. Specifically, I hope Frank Thomas isn't on the list (I doubt he will be), because if anyone got screwed by the steroid era, it's him. He would've won multiple MVPs if it hadn't been for the roid freaks leapfrogging ahead of him.

Found the list "leaked" on another sports MB so take it for what its worth...
Quote:
Brady Anderson, Manny Alexander, Rick Ankiel, Jeff Bagwell, Bar ry Bonds, Aaron Boone, Rafaeil Bettancourt, Bret Boone, Milton Bradley, David Bell, Dante Bichette, Albert Belle, Paul Byrd, Wil Cordero, Ken Caminiti, Mike Cameron, Ramon Castro, Jose and Ozzie Canseco, Roger Clemens, Paxton Crawford, Wilson Delgado, Lenny Dykstra, Johnny Damon, Carl Everett, Kyle Farnsoworth, Ryan Franklin, Troy Glaus, Rich Garces, Jason Grimsley, Juan Gonzalez, Eric Gagne, Nomar Garciaparra, Jason Giambi, Jeremy Giambi, Jose Guillen, Jay Gibbons, Juan Gonzalez, Clay Hensley, Jerry Hairston, Felix Heredia, Jr., Darren Holmes, Wally Joyner, Darryl Kile, Matt Lawton, Raul Mondesi, Mark McGwire, Guillermo Mota, Robert Machado, Damian Moss, Abraham Nunez, Trot Nixon, Jose Offerman, Andy Pettitte, Mark Prior, Neifi Perez, Rafael Palmiero, Albert Pujols, Brian Roberts, Juan Rincon, John Rocker, Pudge Rodriguez, Sammy Sosa, Scott Schoenweiis, David Segui, Alex Sanchez, Gary Sheffield, Miguel Tej ada, Julian Tavarez,Fernando Tatis, Maurice Vaughn, Jason Varitek, Ismael Valdez, Matt Williams and Kerry Wood
Varitek and Pudge are the most surprising to me.
Booyah!

List's real, folks.
I love that it includes Ozzie Canseco and Jeremy Giambi.

Offerman? Proves juice don't help throwing to first base.
John Rocker is my favorite. Here's hoping he shared his steroids needle with some queer with AIDS on the New York subway.
Wood and Prior. Guess it's not that surprising. So Sosa, Nefi, Nomar, Hairston, Heredia, Manny Alexander, Lawton, and Farnsworth are the only former/current Cubs on that list.

Manny Alexander was Sosa carrier.

And the Cubs should forget going after Brian Roberts now. Wood can go now. Give him to the Reds.

I have to think that's not all. Atleast Bonds, Sosa, and Big Mac are officially named.

Didn't you see the massive weight loss Pudge had a year or 2 ago?
and yeah for Bagwell.
Actually pretty surprised by seeing Varitek on there.

What the hell kind of steroids is Gagne taking? After he pitched up a shit-storm for the Sox, he ought to look into getting his money back.

I don't know who the hell Paxton Crawford is but holy Christ that is an awesome name.

The Bagwell conspiracy
Saw this on a BB mb. Interesing take on how the 1992 Astros helped the steroid explosion.

Fun theory
I am hoping no one on the Cardinals, but I am pretty sure our golden boy is gonna get named.

That's a fucked up conspiracy theory about Bagwell - reads like fan-fic.

The thing is, all these names are being leaked like it's fucking the 1950s and it's McCarthy, not Mitchell, recklessly tainting a whole slew of careers with testimony from people trying to get off the hook for other shit.

No, I'm not crazy or burying my head in the sand - I understand that there's a really good chance everybody on that list juiced. But if there's ONE GUY on there that didn't who just got their name permanently fucked by this, that sucks. I understand the "public shaming" aspect to this as they're working to prevent future generations from juicing (or, at least, juicing under a different name - whatever next they'll call Human Growth Hormone or whatever that even many doctors seem to be experimenting with as a way to extend/enhance longevity), but if they fucked a guy for life because of this, people haven't learned shit from the Red Scares or any other witch hunt.

That said, because of Bagwell, because of the Tejada-trade and - bitterness about their departures aside - because of Clemens and Petitie, it's a black day to be a Houston fan. Even Knoblauch went to high school in Houston.

Football fans, y'all know your day's coming, too.

One additional thing - there's an odd chance, an outside chance even, that Canseco is right. That one day, steroids and HGH are going to be as common as hell in major league baseball after the right number of scientists say it is to be or if a version of them becomes mainstream without side effects. Like with the public backlash against Roger Maris in '61, are we all going to be looking back at Barry Bonds and all the hoopla concerning his steroid use and instead of calling for an asterisk, they'll be saying he was a pioneer who faced down adversity and paved the way for HGH to go mainstream and allow people to live what might become healthy and happier lives (a'la Stallone with his bust in Australia with mountains of HGH in his bags)?
Brady Anderson... what a shocker.

That Pujols is on the list strikes me as funny considering he was the cover boy on the SI "Baseball is good clean fun again" preview issue from '06.
Got to be honest: Seeing Johnny Damon's name on there was kind of a gut-punch.
Ah, okay. Brady "Spike" Anderson's still gotta be on there though, right?
Troy Glaus, Gary Matthews Jr., Rick Ankiel, Jay Gibbons, Mo Vaughn, Paul Lo Duca, Eric Gagne, Glenallen Hill, Gregg Zaun, Rondell White, Hal Morris, Todd Hundley, Larry Bigbie, Lenny Dykstra, David Segui, Matt Herges, Kevin Brown, Mike Lansing, Wally Joyner, Nook Logan, Jeremy Giambi, Benito Santiago, Denny Neagle, Ron Villone, Fernando Vina, Todd Pratt, Jack Cust, Matt Williams, John Rocker, Paul Byrd, F.P. Santangelo and Randy Velarde.

Besides the famous already being reported.

See also Chuck Knoblauch.
It is safe to say Greg Maddux is now the best pitcher of his generation, not that piece of shit Clemens. Puts how great he was into perspective.

And further proof that the single season HR champ is Maris-61
HR king-Aaron 755

I'd still bet the farm that Bagwell, Luis Gonzalez, and Pudge are users. I'd even say Pujlos as it seems LaRussa and roid users go hand in hand.
This is deserving to one of history's most boring sport, in which the highlight is to see someone knock it out of the park.

Fuck the MLB.
