I always confuse Slant and Slate, but it took one look at those lists (which, to be fair, have a lot of great picks and things I really want to see) to remind myself that at the end of the day, it's like the Pitchfork Media of movies. Another day, another boutique of internet douchebaggery.

The one guys seems to have gotten his Grindhouses confused.

Reading lists like these just depress me because I managed to see so few theatrical releases this year. I just now finally saw No Country for Old Men, and I think Rattatoullie was the only other movie I saw that I really loved.

I'm confused as to why films like Killer of Sheep this year and Army of Shadows last year keep popping up on end-of-year lists. Don't get me wrong, I love them both, but can't we save those spots for movies that were actually, you know, made this year?

I think it's pretty funny that the exploded head clip is actually a "blink and you miss it" moment in the movie.

That's probably one of the milder kills in The Story of Ricky, which makes Paul Verhoeven look like a pussy. And englebert - make sure you watch it with the English Dub. Makes the movie even better.
