I'd love to see this happen, but I really don't think it will. If Anchor Bay had the rights, we would already have 4 editions of the thing, but this film is barely a blip on Disney's radar.

I wanna see it released with a really shitty Photoshopped cover that prominently displays "Anchorman's Paul Rudd". His face should be bigger than Michael's.

I'd probably buy it but I never thought the PC was a huge improvement over the original. And even though the ending of the original version sucked, the implication of the PC ending sucked even more. The original opening was pretty cool though.

I am ashamed to admit it, but this was the first Halloween film I ever saw. I remember sitting in the theater, confused as hell and bored shitless. Once it ended, we snuck into a screening of The Usual Suspects. All I have to say is, thank god for The Usual Suspects.

They talk about the Producer's Cut like its this amazing alternate version that turns the movie into Citizen Kane.

Can anyone go into some specifics regarding these changes?

The two biggest differences are the opening sequence and the ending. In the PC opening, Jamie actually survives her escape from the "temple" and ends up in the hospital. There she's killed by Mitchell Ryan, not Uncle Mike. It's really not much of an improvement.

The bigger difference is at the end. I don't remember the exchange exactly, but Loomis is at Smith's Grove and was a confrontation with Dr. Wynn, and at one point his coat is pulled back, revealing the mark of Thorn on his own arm. Then Loomis starts screaming. The idea, I think, is that he would be the next Bogeyman. Or at least that he would somehow become evil. It was a cheap assassination of the Loomis character and was a terrible way to end the movie. It's not like the theatrical cut's that much better, but at least the suggestion is that he finally met his fate at the hands of Michael, rather than some namby pamby voodoo shit.

The production was all kinds of fucked up as a whole, though. In the original script, Jamie was supposed to survive throughout the whole film, and turn up at the end at Smith's Grove to help the others survive. She was going to have the final showdown with Michael and sacrifice herself. That might've been promising.

I actually like this movie. Love the body count. But Kevin's right. Folks seem to think the PC is a lily white virgin, while the theatrical cut is a Thai hooker with one leg shorter than the other.

All his death is missing is a dubbed tire screech and it would be Plan Nine From Outer Space.

From what I remember, Wynn was like Michaels "guardian" or some stupid shit. And what he was doing was passing on the job to Loomis. It's fucking stupid either way.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they just didn't want to pay Jamie so they did a re-write. If you go read the full interview Ferrands did at Icons of Horror, you can find out more about what the PC contains. Or you can google Halloween Curse of Michael Myers producer cut and discover a whole new world of shit you can't imagine. Oh, and that whole voodo aspect was pretty lame. I think somebody should remake Halloween and start over. If they stick to the orignal and maybe give Michael a backstory so that nobody can say he's a voodoo queen a few films later it will be cool.

and he talks about how Donald "P-Dog" Pleasance passed away durring filming which affected the script. I always thought the part where Michael Myers steals that truck in part four and almost runs Loomis over with it and the gas station explodes was the pinnacle of Pleasance's participation in the pictures.

The Producer's Cut is a pretty huge improvement over the theatrical version, both in terms of story (it's darker, and you can actually follow it) and style. It doesn't change the fact that it's still overcomplicated and retroactively hurts the first film.

I watched the Producer's Cut last night and I thought it was an improvement over the original but it has been so long since I watched Curse that I can't say for sure. What I am sure of, however, is that Paul Rudd is simply captivating!
