What do you guys think of them, cool or not?. I personally like them more than the regular cases and think they help save space.

Not a fan.

They're nice. But, it's not worth it if it's extra money with no additional content (ie Grindhouse). The plastic cases are sturdy enough, and doesn't suffer from paint scratches.

How do they save space? They don't seem to be appreciably thinner and may even be wider and taller than the plastic cases.

I like them.

The thing about slipcases though, is that they usually have the same picture as on the DVD. I keep them, but just toss them in a box.

I dig steel cases. Makes them feel like Super Special Limited Editions.

Fuck you, I know they're not.

They do tend to have the strongest artwork.

Well I sure know, that when I'm fighting crime, I use steel cases to block bullets... ...I then throw the disc at the person to disarm them.

in other words, no it doesn't matter.

I am though liking the blu-ray and HD DVD cases. Thin and small, more rack space created.

Agreed. Hotness.

My Terminator 2 metal slipcover ended up catching on the back of the actual DVD case and tearing the shit out of it. On the other hand, they are shiny and heavy. I'm so conflicted.

I love my Robocop steel case. It feels all cold and metal like, just like Robocop would!

I wish they'd completely go cardboard all the way. There's no reason to be using all that plastic, but hey... I'm an environmentalist.

They should use that organic potting material. After you are done loading the DVD into your steel binder, you could pant the DVD case and grow flowers.

This was the first steel case dvd I bought - that artwork(from the poster)sold me on getting it, so much better looking than the regular & 2-Disc Special Edition DVD covers.

Ha!

I usually just jam the cardboard into my ecofriendly car. It also runs on love.

Nice. i have the same DVD version of T2 as you. Luckily, my copy has not yet met the same fate as yours. Thank God.

Mostly I think they're lame, but I went for the aforementioned Departed steelbook, mostly cuz it looked way fucking better than the standard one. Though I also have it on Blu-Ray now, so I have the regular artwork too.
