I saw this on an airplane.

As completely absurd as the movie already is, an extra layer of weirdness was added every time Rod yelled at his father about "kicking his face."

Also, my girlfriend asked, in reference to the Isla Fisher character: "Do you understand her motivation?" I had to answer: "Her motivation is to fill that particular ridiculous spot in the story formula." I'm not sure I got the concept across.

On the other hand, the Footloose moment was gold.

The whole movie is gold.

I'd say it was a work of genius to end the film with "Time Has Come," but I wonder if the reality is that the title track would have cost them more money.

I hated this movie - the only thing close to funny in it was the scenes with his father(McShane)which were great but everything else was either stupid or weird.

I liked this movie -- everything in it was either stupid or weird.

I caught part of this on TV the other day. One thing I appreciate about it, besides the fact that it has a pretty awesome cast (Ian McShane! Will Arnet! Chris Parnell!) is that at first glance it's just a collection of lazily thrown together retro clichés (Evil Knievel, Europe, "The Voice"), but if you stick with it the weirdness of such a random selection, it sort of moves past simple "haha, old stuff is corny" lameness and into its own weird little paralell universe. Like, I couldn't even imagine a bedroom featuring both a movie poster like the one featured in Jorma Taccone's den and an actual computer connected to the modern internets; it's not even that Jorma's character is lame/out of touch, he just lives in his own weird little world. I realise Lonely Island has soured a lot of people on these dudes, but this movie is cool imo.
