Duke Nukem video tomorrow

Thread Starter
At least, according to George Broussard there will be.

Quote:
Last Saturday we had our annual company Christmas party. It was a lot of fun as usual but it featured one special surprise. It turns out that several people had been secretly working late nights and into the wee hours of the morning preparing a special video for those at the party. They created a short teaser for Duke Nukem Forever.
After seeing the teaser we thought it was something we should share with all of you and while it's just a teaser, rest assured more is coming.

Tomorrow, Wednesday the 19th, around noon CST, we will release the first teaser trailer from Duke Nukem Forever. To tide you over until then, here is a screen shot taken from the teaser.

Thank you for being fans of the game and for your continued patience.

I'd like to thank the people on the team that worked so hard to create this teaser and the friends of 3DR that helped create it (Jeremy Soule and Julian Soule, Frank Bry, Jason Evigan and of course, Jon St. John).
Could this be? Will this game actually ever see the light of day?

I didn't know anyone was still working on this.
Tomorrow will be the day the internet chokes and dies.
Cool! And maybe we'll also get a sneak preview of The Phantom Menace trailer with it!!
I imagine this will use exactly 0% in-game assets. So, basically, a 30-second CG movie featuring a character no one cares about for a game that will never be released.
Hell, if this is actually happening, maybe someone, somewhere can get off their ass, kill somebody and get Starcraft: Ghost made, too!

Is it more sad that I still care or that I'm worried about the fact that I still care?

ETA:
Although I do agree that it's just a CG movie that will not do anything to show that they are actually making any progress on a game.

Yes.

Okay, did you see the screenshot taken from the teaser?

That is real time, not cg.

what is this 1999?

Edit:

Sorry I just saw someone already made a phantom mencae related joke.

According to Broussard it'll be about a minute long and will contain some in-game footage.
Wait, the game is getting called "Duke 4-Ever"? Boo.

Anyway, that screenshot was mighty. This could be a fun game if they keep it simple.
I'll be happy if this trailer has a shot of Duke using the shrink ray on a pig cop and then squashing him under his mighty boot.

Ahhh, memories...

Chunky Lover 53, I am looking forward to a Duke Nukem game...Maybe it will arrive in time for Christmas 2015.
I hear a free copy of Chinese Democracy will be included in every box.

OH SNAP!

Edited to add: I'm still hopeful about this game. I don't know why...I think it actually accounts for the last vestiges of my naivete.
The trailer is available now

Looks pretty, but that's about it so far.

The site is kind of getting hammered right now. If you want the flash video file directly (should play in Windows Media Player or VLC) you can get it here: http://cdn.shacknews.com/public/video/11558.flv

ETA: or use the YouTube link below. It's about the same quality.

I liked it, although the quick cutting of the brief in-game action bits made those parts hard to follow.

So is the titile Duke Nukem Forever because he cannot die, is forever working out, or has he been on steroids all his life? forget forever, the title should be Duke Nukem: Releases When Pig Cops Fly.

Needs more titties.

I've always thought this image was kind of funny.
Other than that, I've never understood the fascination with Duke Nukem.

Hell, I'd be down for another Duke game. I played 3d more than friggin' anyone.

harrybeanbag- I did get that Hires pack. It does make things look a helluva lot better, but of course, it still looks like crap by today's standards. Nice add-on, though.
Jesus, Wade, look at those forearms...Popeye would be appalled.
Alright, that was fun. And I never even played 3D; I was totally an elitist asshat who lived and died by the 2d side scroller.

Duke 3d is still one of my all-time favorites. The first FPS to use real (-ish) environments, which would often be destructible (Finding a crack in the wall, pulling out a pipe bomb? Good times.), the level design, those weapons, all those movie references, and that sense of humour -- I loved it. I may have logged more hours in Duke 3d than I have in any other game. So I'm definitely still eager for this, but it's gonna have to be fucking spectacular to be anything but disappointing.

Also, if you want a sense of how long this thing's been in development, just remember: the title Duke Nukem Forever was a timely jab at the lame movie title Batman Forever. It's been that long.

Last Duke Nukem I played was that "Manhattan Project" side scroller, which was fun for a while.
At least they didnt pull a "Duke's about to make you his bitch" comment.
I almost lost some respect for Erik Larsen until I realized he probably drew that Duke image in about 3 minutes.

I think the only way that this game won't be a letdown is if it's the most interactive first person shooter EVER. That, and totally insane weapons. I can't believe they didn't just give up on this project years and years ago.
3d was mostly amazing because it advanced multiplayer gaming so well. My friends and I got to the point where nobody cared about who had the most kills and everything came down to who had the most creative kills. There was nothing more fulfilling than littering one of the rooms that contained a camera with pipe bombs, then sitting in the control room watching the monitor and killing somebody long distance by setting them off. Unfortunately, that kind of thing is pretty much done to death now. They'd be hard pressed to make anything that could surprise us.
I remember setting up several dozen trip bombs in one area, and then littering the floor around them with pipe bombs. Got bored waiting for the other guy to come running in, so I detonated one of the pipe bombs; the whole screen was basically a huge explosion for several seconds.
You guys are all acting like Glaados promised you cake. It's a lie.
Well, that was underwhelming.
Interesting that there was no 'When It's Done' at the end.
But, then again, it DID feature Duke just blowing smoke.

...Is this a none-so-subtle 'fuck-you' to the fans (if there are any left)?
Doom 3 on Duke. If you expected any different FUCK YOU.

Anybody played the starship troopers mod for this back in the day?

Top stuff.

Fucking loved Duke Nukem 3D.

Attention to detail was pretty outstanding for the time.

Tarantino is about to make "Inglorious Bastards" and now this?
Surely the rapture is upon us.
By the time it's ready the engine will be outdated, again, and they'll restart the whole thing!
Someone made the joke in another thread, but I can't wait to listen to Chinese Democracy while playing this if it ever comes out.

Looks cool. But hey, of course it will! It's Duke.
Just such an incredible fuck up. Wonder what the whole story is.
I remember someone over at Valve once saying that the company wouldn't work on a Half Life 3 because the second one took so much of their life to put together - imagine how much time some people have put into this one game. I know it's switched studios a few times, but there's got to be some original creative input in there from the start.

I sincerely hope a documentary film crew has been following this team around for the last decade, a la Startup.com.
