Your Holiday/Personal time

So anyone else have Zero Holiday time this year?

At my work, you get 6 holidays a year. Yes, a whopping 6 days.

Christmas Day
New Year's Day
July 4th
Labor Day
Thanksgiving and Black Friday

I do have personal time I could take, but due to having a 2 year old with unexpected illnesses, I must save my personal time for whenever the boy gets sick... cuz the daycare will call your ass and make you take your kid home.

so basically I get tuesday off. Weeee!

yeah, i still work at lame ass retail where I'm pulling 10 hour days...but I'm leaving for South Carolina on the 26 to see my girl...now that is my holiday time

No Memorial Day? The terrorists have won.

I just returned to a job I left 18 months ago (boy was that fun - but a whole other topic entirely), and where I work you have to be employed 30 days before you get holiday pay. Naturally my previous stint with the company doesn't count, and of course this is the one year they're giving us both Christmas and Christmas Eve off. So thanks to my company's generosity, my check will be significantly lighter next week. Thanks, heartless corporation!

I'm hourly. I get paid Christmas day, but have to work the Sunday before. I'm going to take Christmas and New Years Eve off, but won't get any pay for those days.

I asked the boss why I was hourly instead of salaried, like the rest of the media folk before me. She said "Well...we figured we'd save some money that way."

Yes. Of course they did.

I'm headed out of town tonight and won't be back at work until January 2nd. I may have to do a little bit of work while on the road, but I've been absolutely busting my ass the last few weeks (and couple of weekends) to try to keep that from happening.

So, assuming everything goes my way, I'm looking at an 11-day weekend. BLISS!

I the business I'm in, I'm lucky to get a weekend off anymore. And the sad thing is... I don't mind, most of the time.

Our office is closed Christmas Day, but I took Monday off as well. I have to burn a vacation day, but there's going to be fuck-all going on here Monday anyway and I figured why bother.

I leave work today at 5:00 and do not have to return until January 2nd. The pay is not the best at a university, but the benefits are quite difficult to beat.

Like hell. In fact, until I moved into this new position, holidays were pretty much just another day at work. You're lucky to get one of the big three (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years) off, and Fourth of July and Memorial Day might as well not exist. And since those days are usually big attendance days, working in the park is no picnic. Now that I'm in a back-of-house department, I get all the holidays off. I had a 4-day weekend for Thanksgiving and damn near wet myself with excitement.

As of 1:30 PM, I've officially begun my 5-day Christmas break. The office manager won't be back until after New Year's, so come next Thursday, I'll be bringing a couple of flicks to watch at work; 'cause you know nothing says "tis the season" like Ilsa: She Wolf of the SS, The Good The Bad and The Ugly, and Superbad.

Today was a half day due to our official holiday party (last friday was a half for our unofficial party), I'm off Monday through wednesday of next week, and then New years eve and day, so I can't complain.

I run a retail shop so it's pretty much 12 hour days for all the holiday season, except for 2 days for Christmas and 2 for New Years.

Ditto on that, except I took off yesterday without having to use much PTO (2 hours), because I had already put in 38 hrs Mon-Thurs (Tues, I didn't get out till midnight). That's like 12 days off, suckers! Course, I spent yesterday cleaning, b/c we were having friends over for early Christmas dinner (mmm Turkey).

Before you call me a lucky bastard, my Mom is coming to visit for a good chunk of next week.

Doesn't mean the CHUD elves still aren't hard at work at the CHUD pole.
