Share Your Loot - Christmas 2007 - Page 2

The coolest gift I got this year was the 80 gig iPod my wife got for me, which was super considering my old one was recently hijacked by some hooligans in a smash and grab with my car as the unwilling victim. That's all they took though... the bastards. My old one was getting long in the tooth anyway and was starting to crap out, but still...

Anyway... so I got the 80 gig iPod
Folklore and Assasin's Creed for the PS3
Call of Duty 4 for the PS3 (early x-mas gift given at Thanksgiving)
A sweet Garmin Nuvi 360 GPS unit
Some bath stuff
Assorted monetary gifts
$200 Best Buy gift card

I don't think I left anything out. Not too shabby.

I got three pairs of pants and a tie.

Getting old sucks.

Edit: If Schwartz hadn't come through with Excalibur, I'd be going all D-Fens today.

My wife got me a 'brand-new' original Nintendo with....wait for it....Mike Tyson's Punch-Out. My life is complete again.

I meant to include this in my original post as well, but I forgot. From Anderson, my awesome CHUD gift buddy, I received the Blu-Ray version of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and Twin Peaks: The Gold Box Edition. Did I mention that Anderson is awesome? If not, well, he is.

I've already lent the first season of the West Wing to a friend but I still haven't even remove the shrink wrap off the Blade Runner case.

There must be something wrong with me....

And then a Jeff Gordon desktop calender that I really didn't need nor want (oh mom! I'm not 12 anymore!) plus a $30 Best Buy gift card. I guess my brother forgot I worked there and the employee discount is pretty rad.

Either way, I was happy. I didn't really need anything or want anything in particular. And probably for the first time in years my dad and brother only had one fight at the dinner table.
I got a kilt too. It was actually a combination birthday/christmas present that was ordered at the Glengarry Highland Games in Maxville, Ontario. It was a gift from my mom and grandmother. And it took 6 months to come. But it was definitely worth the wait. Oh, just so ya know...the socks are called HOSE, the pouch thing is called a SPORRAN, and the dagger is called a SGIAN DUBH. From a fellow Scot to another

We should post pictures of ourselves in our kilt get up. That'd be awesome.

Wilco's Sky Blue Sky from my 12 year old son, a Michigan State hoodie and a giant jar of roasted almonds from my Grandma, from my wife I got some mock turtleneck shirts (great for early season golf!), pants for work, golf balls, a kitchen scale and Michael Smith's cookbook, two Nike caps, a full set of grips for my clubs and a personalized Lions jersey. Mom & Dad got me a charger and extra batteries for my Ryobi tools, an MSU cap and golf balls. I also got that "look" from my wife when she opened the leather jacket and gold bracelet that I got her, and again from my son when he opened a new set of golf clubs from the two of us. I made out like a bandit!

I cheer and am saddened for you all in the same sentence!

My parents have done away with the whole gift giving thing, they refuse to get us anything anymore, but that doesn't stop us from getting stuff for them, though.

But, with the boatload of money I got, I went out and purchased the gift that keeps on giving (well, that other gift besides Herpes that keeps on giving):

XBOX 360 Elite

Boo-ya-kasha!

As for non-family related swag: The Fountain HD-DVD from Schwartz in the Gift Exchange and my girlfriend, who is the best thing ever, got me a new Queen sized bed. Oh, it rocks something fierce, lemme tell you.

A handful of DVDs, some shit for my kitchen, some shit for the bathrooms, and some cash. Spent said cash on shipping shit back home. Overall short Christmas and not many WOW or WTF gifts this year. I felt very Bah Humbug this year.

As for myself, I bought myself a new house. So that kinda overshadowed any Christmas loot I got and the Chirstmas holiday season itself this year.

Aside from the Star Wars dealie I got from Hammerhead in the CHUD swap, I got shirts, towels, a pair of slippers (from my girlfriend, and I did need them and they aren't easy to find in my size), and a $10 gift certificate to a local Italian restaurant.

I'm infinitely jealous of all of you.

I've been to the restaurant in question before. $10 will buy me the ability to stand within 20 feet of the premises and sniff.

Someone gave my brother a $10 gas card and he pretty much said all he can do with that is walk to the station and inhale fumes. Hate to say it but if all you can afford to spend on gifts is $10 please don't waste it on a gift card. I know they are the rage and all but come on.

Speaking of gas cards. I noticed the day after Christmas gas prices in my area went up. So gas cards that were purchased when prices were $2.70 a gallon and are now $3.17 makes those cards less valuable.

No shit. I got a cookbook. I don't cook. That's my family's not-so-subtle hint that I should learn.

But thanks to Chris O. and the CHUD gift exchange, I got the Knocked Up DVD.

One thing I never understood is why certain family members only get me clothes. Year after year the same ones get me a couple of sweat pants that are way too long and two shirts that are way too little. No way to return either of them so I wind up donating them to Goodwill.

- Xbox 360 HD-DVD player w/ King Kong HD
- The Host HD
- Pride and Prejudice HD
- Transformers HD
- Gift card, used on Face/Off HD and The Kingdom HD
- Simpsons Season 10
- Monster Squad
- Some clothing items -- a nice sweater and workout gear
- A couple books

Very, very pleased. HD-DVDs make me angry that I spent so much time and money building up my DVD collection considering the visual leap of this next gen format. And my HDTV isn't even that good, but these discs all look amazing.

A single serving French press
Morrocan mint loose tea
Freshwater Cucumber scented hand soap from Bath and Body Works

Yeah, no kidding- it really is a must own. I got it last year from the girlfriend and thought it couldn't be topped. This year though, everyone kinda went a little nuts:

-Just got back from a week long vacation to ridiculously hot Orlando, and coming back to this fucking wasteland that is Toronto is maddening.

-And as if that wasn't enough, they all got me a 8-inch Wusthof Classic Chef Knife and a 3 1/2 inch Shun Pairing Knife. I've been orgasmically feeling up knives for the last year and a half in stores and never made the plunge- they went and did it for me.

There are no words for this year.
