LA: Housing Emergency!

My brother was supposed to move into my apartment in a couple of weeks... now it looks like nobody is moving in here and I'm moving out. I need to find a 2bdrm that's available and hopefully can be moved into before I leave for Sundance in 13 days.

If you have apartments that are open near you, please PM me the numbers with the basic info (cross streets if possible). I'm willing to go to the North Hollywood/Studio City/Burbank areas, but would prefer Hollywood/Los Feliz/Silverlake. My brother and I are non-drivers, so some sort of nearby reasonable public transport helps, but fuck it, i just want a place to keep my stuff.

Probably obvious, but have you checked Craigslist yet? I found a dirt-cheap apartment in North Hollywood in 2 days on that site. Much, much cheaper than Rent.com or any of the professional sites.

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

I'm hoping for a place 1600 or less (2 bdrm).

I've been all over Craigslist, and am looking at places tomorrow, so maybe it will all work out. Fingers crossed.

I've used Westside rentals before and it's a good service but unless you're completely desperate, it's not really worth 60 dollars.

Taking some time and looking around your desired areas will usually be enough to find a good place. And Craig's List, if you're willing to chance it with the crazies.

Update for those who kind enough to help me out: I have a share in Studio City that I'm signing on tomorrow. I'm going to write this whole thing up, I think, although maybe it won't be as interesting to read about as it was to experience - things got crazy and seemingly super desperate more than once.
