Getting Produced

Well, after 18 months of development, it appears that we're going ahead with a slate of thirteen episodes for my animation project. We're waiting to hear from the money in regards to details and what my fee will be but it seems to be a *crosses fingers* greenlight.

I start work on the other ten episodes almost immediately after our current glut of contracts are done at the studio...stopping only to take a few weeks off in April to enjoy spending time with my wife and newborn.

It's been a good year.

Oh, the series is being called "When You're Strange..." which is a slight change from "Freddie Francis High" the original title.

Wow, congrats Ryan! That's pretty damn exciting news!

Hope everything works out with the money, that you get fat paid, and the project is a total success.

I can mooch off you, right?

The awesomeness of your avatar demands that I will at least send you the full series in DVD format.

I should also say that we're looking at a mid 2009 start date for the animation.

It's more Cartoon Network. 9-13 year olds sort of stuff, action/adventure/coming-of-age comedy, lost of horror and sci-fi background gags.

As soon as the contracts are signed I'll tell everyone all about it.

Congratulations! The crossed-fingers waiting-for-the-financing part is equally exhilarating and terrifying. I hope it works out the right way for you. Way to go.

Nice work there S. My hat's off to you, sir.

Congrats! And, it goes without saying, I like the name.

That's awesome. Congrats.

I've been seriously interested in animation but my film school only taught us stuff about Film and very little TV.

Whenever you have free time I'd love to ask you some questions as to the process of getting something animated off the ground as opposed to something live-action.

Kids need more horror-esque shows, awesome.

Thanks everyone.

As I said, lots of details to work out yet but we're moving at a pretty quick clip. I was woken up early by the music guy this morning asking when he can see the storyboards for episode two. Considering we haven't finished the final draft I think he's jumping the gun a smidge. Hell, we're still working on one of the character design for that episode.

We're hoping to have the teaser ready for the Banff World Television Festival in June. That way we can hand out discs to potential interested distrbutors or networks.

Feel free to ask away. We've been doing this completely the wrong way apparently so I may not be the best person to ask in terms of financial stuff. But from a creative stand point I can definitely help. Also from a pitch/sucking up view I can help lots. I've pitched this one to everyone who would stop and listen to me.

I have our financials somewhere and I'm pretty sure I meant to send them to you last year but it completely slipped my mind. I'll try to remember this time.
